Maharashtra: Protests erupt against transfer of IAS officer Tukaram Mundhe

A group of persons with disabilities has demanded the cancellation of the transfer of Indian Administrative Service officer Tukaram Mundhe, who served as Secretary in the Divyang Kalyan (Disability Welfare) Department. According to PTI, the group protested outside the Nanded Collector’s office on Wednesday, raising slogans to press for their demand. Mundhe was recently appointed as Secretary, Disaster Management, Rehabilitation, Revenue and Forest Department at Mantralaya, the state secretariat in Mumbai. As per PTI, the protesters said that during his tenure in the disability welfare department, Mundhe, considered an upright civil servant, took several decisions in favour of persons with disabilities, earning their respect and trust. A 13-year-old girl was found dead under suspicious circumstances in Rajasthan’s Bikaner on Saturday, triggering protests by locals who alleged that the minor was raped, the police said.
