Patralekhaa says female friendships are still rarely explored in mainstream cinema

Patralekhaa says female friendships are still rarely explored in mainstream cinema

For Patralekhaa, it’s a season of firsts — from turning producer with Toaster and embracing motherhood with daughter Parvati Paul Rao, to now headlining her first women-led film, Heer Sara Aur Pondicherry. “I was sold even before reading it,” she laughs. The actor says she was surprised to learn that the movie revolved around women and had no love angle. While female actors get to play varied roles, Patralekhaa feels that “women are always portrayed as somebody’s something”. “Love seems to be the centre of our being, at least in movies. While we have so many shades, I don’t see that reflected quite often.” Stories centred on female friendships, she says, are even rarer. “Those parts are not written. In my 10-year-long career, there have only been a couple of films that have been female-oriented,” she shares. Disclaimer: We do not own any of the content, ideas, images, or text presented here. Paresh Rawal expresses disappointment over his Hera Pheri character Baburao not being explored much: ‘I am bored…’ | Bollywood News

Actor Paresh Rawal has portrayed numerous memorable characters on the big screen, but his most popular role remains that of Baburao in the Hera Pheri films. Recently, during a podcast with Raj Shamani, Paresh reflected on how Baburao’s popularity has often overshadowed many of his other acclaimed performances. He also admitted that the constant projection of Baburao in the same light bothers him. Revisiting his statement from an earlier interview, in which he said he felt trapped by the success of his Hera Pheri character, Paresh explained, “What happens is that just to please people, you keep churning out the same thing. When Raju Hirani made Munnabhai MBBS, the same characters were seen in different backdrops, and people enjoyed watching that. When you have huge characters with a goodwill of 500 crores, why don’t you take a risk and fly? Why are you stagnant? My contention was to do the character in different ways because we have an audience for it. If you give up your own advantage, what’s the point? We should not just …
