No place for external mediation in India-Nepal border matters: MEA

India on Tuesday said that there is no role for any third parties in a bilateral matter between India and Nepal and the two countries have established bilateral mechanisms to deal with all aspects of boundary matters. Responding to queries during the regular media briefing, Ministry of External Affairs Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said there are cases of cross-border occupation in demarcated segments of the boundary, which are being mapped jointly. “We have seen the remarks of the Prime Minister of Nepal concerning India India-Nepal boundary as well as the subsequent statement made by the Nepali foreign office on this matter. While close to 98 per cent of the India-Nepali boundary has been demarcated, there are some unresolved segments. The shifting of the Gandak River has resulted in this. Shweta Tripathi and husband Chaitnya Sharma pair up onscreen for Akarsh Khurana’s play ‘External Affairs’

Some love stories begin over coffee. Some begin mid-scene, under stage lights, with cues being missed and hearts quietly finding their rhythm. For Shweta Tripathi and Chaitnya Sharma, it began in a rehearsal room years ago, under the direction of Akarsh Khurana. And now, in what feels less like coincidence and more like a beautifully written callback, they return to the stage together with ‘External Affairs.’ Shweta and Chaitnya back on stage This time, though, the script has changed. They’re no longer just co-actors figuring out blocking and lines; they’re life partners and for the very first time, playing a romantic couple on stage. Art imitates life, but with better lighting. Jahnvi Kapoor on self-worth and external validation

Actor Jahnvi Kapoor recently spoke about self-worth and external validation, emphasising how, in her professional journey, she gradually learnt to value herself and her art. Speaking with senior journalist Barkha Dutt on ‘We The Women’, the actor shared, “Whenever you enter a room, a work environment, whenever you are told how to feel about yourself, you need to decide on your own that I believe in myself, then everything else follows. So, I don’t know ki baahar se woh izzat mil rahi hai, nahi mil rahi hai, mai bas apna kaam karne ki koshish kar rahi hu, shiddat se kar rahi hu, mehnat se kar rahi hu. Aur mai khud ki izzat karti hu. Mai jaanti hu ki mai jab set pe jaati hu, mai mera kaam jaanti hu, aur woh dekheke baaki log mere izzat karte hei.” (“So, I don’t know whether I’m getting that respect from outside or not. (Photo: AP) The Chinese military said on Monday it was dispatching air, navy and rocket troops to conduct joint military drills around Taiwan, a move it called a “stern warning” against separatist and “external interference” forces. The drills came after Beijing expressed anger at a statement by Japan’s prime minister, Sanae Takaichi, that its military could get involved if China were to take action against Taiwan, the self-governing island that the world’s second-biggest economy says must come under its rule. But the Chinese military did not mention Japan in its statement on Monday morning. Taiwan, an island off the southeastern coast of China, separated from the mainland in 1949 amid Civil War. It has operated …

The report of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on External Affairs, chaired by Lok Sabha MP Shashi Tharoor, has covered the turbulent India-Bangladesh relation of the past two years and said that Bangladesh is witnessing a “shift” and that New Delhi could end up losing the “strategic space” in Dhaka without necessary recalibration. “India faces its greatest strategic challenge in Bangladesh since the Liberation War of 1971. The challenge in 1971 was existential, a humanitarian crisis, and the birth of a new nation. Today, the threat is subtler but probably graver, more serious; a generational discontinuity, a shift of political order, and a potential strategic realignment away from India,” the report said, quoting an expert who deposed before the committee …
