Carlos Sainz showers praise on former teammate

Williams’s Formula One driver Carlos Sainz lavished praise on his former teammate Lando Norris, who won the F1 Drivers’ World Championship in the 2025 season. Norris finished third in the season-ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix at the Yas Marina Circuit on Sunday to claim the World Championship title for the first time in his career, ending Red Bull’s Max Verstappen’s hold on the crown. Sainz called Norris an honest guy and said he was happy for the Briton for breaking the typical stereotypes of a world champion. “More than anything, I’m happy for him as a person because he’s a driver that doesn’t follow the typical stereotypes of a world champion, he’s always stayed true to himself, very honest, very open about his own struggles and proven to everyone you can be world champion being a nice guy, or don’t have to be ruthless or bad***,” Sainz said to the Sky Sports. Norris is the first McLaren driver to have won the title since Lewis Hamilton in 2008. Norris only needed to finish on the podium …

Lando Norris wins his maiden F1 World Championship, becomes first McLaren title winner since 2008 | Motor-sport News

Lando Norris finished third in the season-ending Abu Dhabi GP and thus won the Formula World Drivers’ Championship for the first time in his career, ending Red Bull’s Max Verstappen’s hold on the title. Norris is the first McLaren driver to have won the title since Lewis Hamilton in 2008. Norris only needed to finish on the podium of the season-ending race to seal the victory and he finished third, behind teammate Oscar Piastri in second and race-winner Verstappen. In keeping with his late season rally, Verstappen won his third race in a row. He has won more races (eight) than any driver this year. Norris, who becomes the 11th British driver to win the title, ended the season with 423 points to Verstappen’s 421 and Piastri’s 410. Verstappen has held the title since 2021, having won it four consecutive times after ending Hamilton’s and Mercedes’ record breaking grip on it. Norris’ victory makes it the first time since 2009 that a driver racing for a team outside of Red Bull or Mercedes won the …

Norris on Piastri for potential title-winning favour at Abu Dhabi GP

Norris on Piastri for potential title-winning favour at Abu Dhabi GP

McLaren’s leading driver Lando Norris is just one podium finish away from becoming a Formula 1 world champion as the 2025 season heads into its final race in Abu Dhabi. Norris will clinch the title on Sunday if he finishes on the podium, regardless of where his teammate Oscar Piastri or Red Bull’s Max Verstappen — his two closest rivals in the championship — finish. However, one scenario could see Verstappen defend his crown and win a fifth consecutive title: if he wins the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix while Piastri finishes third and Norris fourth. Conversely, if the McLaren drivers were to swap positions in that same situation, with Norris third and Piastri fourth, they could deny Verstappen the championship, and Norris would become world champion. Norris has 408 points and leads Verstappen (396) by 12 points and teammate Piastri (392) by 16 points. In Thursday’s press conference ahead of the decisive race weekend, Norris was asked about that hypothetical situation and the wider topic of team orders. “It hasn’t been discussed. Honestly, I would …

Ferrari’s Lewis Hamilton: Not here to prove anything to anybody | Motor-sport News

After 12 stellar seasons as a Mercedes Formula 1 driver, Britain’s Lewis Hamilton is gearing up for his first race in red, having signed a multi-year contract with Italian giants Ferrari. The build-up has been nothing short of electric — the anticipation, the hype, the dream-like narrative of Formula 1’s most decorated driver joining the sport’s most legendary team. But beneath the fairytale exterior lies an undeniable force: pressure. When asked about it during Thursday’s press conference ahead of the Australian Grand Prix, Hamilton remained unfazed. Story continues below this ad “I am under no assumptions it will be easy. I don’t feel the pressure. The outside pressure is non-existent for me. The pressure is from within and what I want to achieve,” he said. “I am not here to prove anything to anybody. I have done it time and time again. I know what it takes to do a good job and that’s what I want to deliver, for myself, and my family, for this team that I really believe deserve success. “They are …

BWT Alpine announce Indian driver Kush Maini as test and reserve driver for 2025 season

BWT Alpine Formula One team announced their academy driver India’s Kush Maini as their test and reserve driver for the 2025 season on Tuesday. This makes him the only Alpine F1 reserve driver actively competing in the Formula 2 Championship, where he will be racing for Dams Lucas Oil. Maini’s announcement marks the end of a 13-year hiatus for an Indian talent to be part of an F1 team. He successfully completed four tests with the BWT Alpine F1 Team last season, impressing stakeholders with his performance at each outing. A strong performance this year could make him a potential contender for a full-time seat in 2026. The young Indian driver had an exceptional Formula 2 season last year where he secured five podium positions, with a standout victory in Hungary, playing a pivotal role in Invicta Racing’s Teams’ Championship victory for the 2024 F2 season. He also made history in Jeddah by becoming the first Indian driver to claim a pole position in Formula 2. Story continues below this ad “Being a reserve driver …
