A Class 11 student allegedly was found dead after he allegedly fell from 10th floor of a residential apartment in Bhubaneswar on Monday, police said. Forensics team also reached the apartment complex and collected evidence. Police suspect that the boy may have accidentally fallen from a service duct while trying to hide from the mother of his classmate. According to Bhubaneswar deputy commissioner of police Jagmohan Meena, the girl’s mother returned home in the afternoon, triggering panic. “The boy allegedly hid in the bathroom and is suspected to have later entered the service duct adjacent to it in an attempt to avoid being seen. During the investigation, police recovered the boy’s bag hanging near the service duct on the 9th floor. File | Photo Credit: PTI   Just days after a Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) worker fell into a manhole, another man lost his life after falling into another manhole in the city on Thursday (July 2, 2026). Maintenance work was in progress on Khairani Road near Sanman Hotel in Mumbai’s Chandivali area where the incident occured. The man, identified as 55-year-old Aslam Esaf Shaikh, was taken to the Rajawadi Hospital in Ghatkopar, where the doctors declared him brought dead. BMC Ritu Tawde has announced a financial assistance of ₹10 lakh on behalf of the corporation to the family of the deceased. The police identified the deceased as Rakesh Kumar Mishra, 49, a master chief petty officer (MCPO II) posted at INS Shivaji. Mishra, who hailed from Mangolpuri in North West Delhi, was with his colleague, Mahendra Singh, when the incident occurred at Tiger Point. After Singh alerted the police, an accidental death report was lodged at the Lonavala rural police station. Police Inspector Dinesh Tayade said Mishra’s son was planning to come with his friends to visit Tiger Point on May 30. So, Mishra went to the spot with Singh to plan the trip. Two workers were killed and a minor boy sustained injuries after they fell into a well during boring work in a village in Maharashtra’s Beed district, police said on Saturday, reported PTI. The accident occurred near Kharat Adgaon village in Majalgaon tehsil on Friday evening, an official said.
