Amid ongoing farmers protest at the Haryna-Punjab border, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Friday made a big announcement and told the Rajya Sabha that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government will ensure that all farm produce is purchased at the Minimum Support Price (MSP). “This is Modi govt’s guarantee,” he said.  The statement from the minister could be seen as part of the broader policy efforts by the Modi government to address the issues faced by the agricultural sector.  Farmers begin foot march to Delhi. In a massive development, police on Friday used tear gas to disperse the protesting farmers at Haryana-Punjab Shambhu Border. The farmers have announced to march towards the National Capital-Delhi over their various demands. The development comes after these protesting farmers on the ‘Delhi Chalo’ march were stopped at the Shambhu border as police officials claimed that the famers did not have any permission to enter Haryana. Chandigarh: A police officer was injured Friday in a pitched battle between protesting farmers and cops in Khedi Chwpata in Haryana’s Hisar.
