Ex-MLA Shashank Bhargava booked for abetment of farmer’s suicide

Police have registered a case against BJP leader and former MLA Shashank Bhargava on charges of abetting a farmer’s suicide in Madhya Pradesh’s Vidisha district, officials said on Monday. The body of farmer Govind Gurjar was found on April 27 near a railroad at Peepal Wali Puliya, Vidisha City Superintendent of Police Atul Singh said.  The deceased recorded a video shortly before his death, in which he purportedly levelled serious allegations against the former MLA. On the first day of the special three-day session of the Maharashtra Assembly for oath-taking of the newly elected MLAs, the Opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) MLAs on Saturday decided not to take oath in protest against alleged misuse of EVMs in the recently held polls and the state government not allowing mock polls using ballot paper at Markadwadi village in Malshiras Assembly constituency. The three-day special session of the Lower House of the state legislature began at 11 am on Saturday as several members belonging to the ruling side, including Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, and Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar took oath as MLAs. However, members from the Opposition parties including the Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT) and NCP (SP) decided not to take oath and walked out of the House. “The MVA’s elected candidates did not take oath today in the Assembly.
