Dhurandhar: 65-year-old song by Hrithik Roshan’s grandfather is Shah Rukh Khan’s favourite; was ‘inspired’ by Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan’s father’s qawwali | Bollywood News

Ranveer Singh-starrer Dhurandhar launched its first trailer on Tuesday and after all the gore and the violence, the trailer ended on a poetic, nostalgic note as director Aditya Dhar brought back a familiar tune. The end credits rolled with the lyrics, “Na toh karwaan ki talaash hai” and while the younger kids might not be familiar with this tune, anyone who has watched any season of Indian Idol, or any other singing reality show, will know that this is the tune that’s often brought back in qawwali rounds of such shows. One of the most popular qawwalis to ever come out of Indian cinema, “Yeh Ishq Ishq Hai”, composed by Roshan and written by Sahir Ludhianvi, is now being re-introduced to the younger audience via this film. “Yeh Ishq Ishq Hai” was composed by music director Roshan, the grandfather of actor Hrithik Roshan, for the 1960 film Barsaat Ki Raat, and 13-minute song, which was reportedly recorded over 24 hours, was sung by Mohd Rafi, Asha Bhosle, Manna Dey, SD Batish and Sudha Malhotra. But, …

Pakistan never welcomed Lata Mangeshkar even though India hosted Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, says Javed Akhtar: ‘This is one-way traffic’ | Bollywood News

Veteran screenwriter and lyricist Javed Akhtar was asked if the ban on Pakistani artistes working in films was valid, as Fawad Khan’s upcoming film Abir Gulaal has been banned by the Information and Broadcasting Ministry. Javed said that such a question had two answers and he proceeded to explain them both in an interaction with PTI on Tuesday. The veteran lyric writer said that in the past, India has hosted many iconic Pakistani artistes like Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and Noor Jehan, but Pakistan has never returned the favour, which is perhaps why Lata Mangeshkar, despite recieving so much love from Pakistanis, never performed in the country as their system never made way for her to perform there. He also said that banning Pakistani artistes from the Indian space will please the fundamentalists as they want to create a wall between the two countries, so Pakistanis cannot see the liberties enjoyed by Indians. Javed Akhtar told PTI, “The first question should be whether we should allow the Pakistani artistes here. There are two answers, both …

In his diary, Sidhu, who had finished 9th in 25m rapid fire in Paris Olympics, jotted down ‘to become India’s first world cup gold medallist in 25m Rapid Fire’. And he achieved exactly that on Tuesday night, edging out Italian Ricardo Mazzetti in the six-shooter final. “In recent months, I found myself a bit clueless as there was no new challenge. I was shooting well and my technique was right. As shooters, we often face these kinds of situations. Hence I wrote down these lines in my diary. Just for that extra push,” Sidhu told The Indian Express from Argentina. There is one more medal now for him to trigger some fun-bragging rights with his twin and his “best competitor” …
