 Two men accused of killing a father-son duo in Murshidabad were arrested in Odisha’s Jharsuguda district on Monday (April 21, 2025) after a Special Task Force from West Bengal tracked them down across State lines. Haragobindo Das (77) and his son Chandan Das (40) were killed during protests allegedly over the Waqf (Amendment) Act in Jafrabad on April 12. One of the prime accused in the murder of a man and his son in violence-hit Murshidabad district in West Bengal was arrested, police said on Sunday. Murshidabad: A riot-affected area amid a visit by National Commission for Women (NCW) Chairman Vijaya Rahatkar, on April 19.(PTI) This was the fourth arrest in the killing of the two at Jafrabad in Shamsherganj, a senior officer said. A court in Uttar Pradesh’s Gonda has sentenced five men, including a father-son duo and two siblings, to life imprisonment in connection with a 2018 murder and attempted murder case. The court of Additional Sessions Judge and Special Judge (POCSO Act) Rajesh Narayan Mani Tripathi also imposed a fine on the convicts on Friday (April 11, 2025). According to Additional District Government Counsel (Criminal) Manmohan Mishra, a complaint was lodged on November 14, 2018, at the Kaudhiya police station by a man named Ramdayal, a resident of Ahiyachet village. Banaskantha Police on Thursday received an eight-day remand of a father-son duo, the accused in the case of a blast at a firecracker warehouse in the district, which on Tuesday killed 21 people, including 7 children. The accused Khubchand Renumal Mohanani and his son Deepak Khubchand Mohanani are the owners of Deepak Traders, which owns the warehouse.
