Even as Varanasi is all set for Dev Deepawali celebrations on Wednesday evening, the festival is moving across the city’s ghats to neighbouring villages and districts — giving a boost to rural tourism along the way. ARTICLE CONTINUES BELOW VIDEO Festivities are set to light up villages such as Madhopur, Chandrawati, Umrah and Rahati in Varanasi and Jaunpur, and Chuitipara in Ambedkarnagar where a host of events have been planned. In Madhopur, officials said the Shooltankeshwar Mahadev Temple Ghat will host a heritage storytelling session on the “Legend of Shooltankeshwar Mahadev,” while locally made diyas will be lit up along the riverbank. Story continues below this ad Chandrawati village, known as the birthplace of Jain Tirthankara Chandraprabhu, will witness its own traditional festivities, promoting village-level tourism. Chuitipara in Ambedkarnagar promises a spectacular show at Shravan Dham, where over 21,000 diyas will illuminate the shrine and ghats.
