The incident took place in the Prem Nagar area, where a first-year BSc Nursing student had organised a birthday celebration at a restaurant. The gathering was attended by her nine friends—five women and four men. Of the four men, two were identified as Shan and Waqif. Police said the presence of youths, belonging to other religion, with a Hindu woman prompted members of a right-wing organisation to barge into the restaurant.
