The trials demonstrated the missile’s capability against ship targets while launched from an Indian Naval Seaking Helicopter. The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and Indian Navy carried out successful flight-trials of first-of-its-kind naval anti-ship missile (NASM-SR) from Chandipur’s Integrated Test Range (ITR). The trials, which were conducted on Tuesday (February 25), demonstrated the missile’s capability against ship targets while launched from an Indian Naval Sea King Helicopter. Watch video here Trials have proven missile’s Man-in-Loop feature According to the Ministry of Defence, the trials have proven the missile’s Man-in-Loop feature and scored a direct hit on a small ship target in sea-skimming mode at its maximum range. “The missile uses an indigenous imaging infra-red seeker for terminal guidance. The mission also demonstrated the high bandwidth two-way data-link system, which is used to transmit the seeker’s live images back to the pilot for in-flight retargeting,” the ministry said. A comprehensive mock drill `Vishanu Yuddh Abhyas` (Virus War Exercise) was conducted in Rajasthan`s Ajmer district from August 27 to August 31 to assess pandemic preparedness. Conducted under the aegis of the National One Health Mission (NOHM), this exercise aimed to evaluate the readiness and response of the National Joint Outbreak Response Team (NJORT) composed of experts from human health, animal husbandry and wildlife sectors, a health ministry statement said. A mock zoonotic disease outbreak scenario was created to simulate a real-world outbreak, according to the ministry. Union Health and Family Welfare Minister J P Nadda appreciated this first-of-its-kind exercise, highlighting the role of the `One Health Mission` by fostering collaborations to address health concerns of humans, animals and plants holistically and in a sustainable manner, it stated.
