A court here has sentenced a man to 20 years of imprisonment for raping a five-year-old girl. Special Public Prosecutor Kuldeep Shrotriya on Wednesday said that on July 17, 2025, the girl was playing outside her home under the Baradari police station area when Mukesh Gupta (50), who lived in the neighbourhood, lured her with a candy, took her to his home, and raped her. The girl later narrated the ordeal to her mother, following which a case was registered and Mukesh was arrested. Shrotriya added that Special Judge (POCSO Act) Narendra Prakash, after hearing both sides on Tuesday convicted Mukesh on Tuesday, sentencing him to 20 years of imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 50,000. A FIVE-YEAR-OLD girl was allegedly kidnapped from her home in Maval taluka of Pune district, was sexually assaulted and brutally strangled to death by a man living in the same neighbourhood and known to the victim’s family, the Pimpri Chinchwad police said. Police have arrested the 32-year-old suspect in the early hours of Sunday. In a tragic incident, a five-year-old boy died after falling into a 100-foot-deep well while he was playing outside his home in Rajasthan’s Sirohi district, the police said Friday. The incident happened in Derna village on Thursday night when Ravi fell into the well. After receiving the information, administrative officials reached the spot with the rescue team, Aburoad Sadar SHO Darshan Singh said. A five-year-old child fell into an open borewell on Monday in Papada police station area of Rajasthan`s Dausa district, prompting authorities to launch a rescue operation.
