72% of Air India Group fleet flagged for recurring defects, shows govt data

Data presented in the Lok Sabha on Thursday showed that in total, 377 aircraft were found to have recurring defects since January last year. This came up when a total of 754 aircraft were analysed for such deficiencies across six scheduled airlines, the government told Lok Sabha on Thursday. IndiGo’s aircraft check Market leader IndiGo had 405 aircraft undergo analysis, of which 148 had repetitive defects, as on February 3 this year. Minister of State for Civil Aviation Murlidhar Mohol presented this data in Lok Sabha. How Air India fared Air India saw 166 aircraft getting analysed, with 137 planes as having repetitive defects. About 54 Air India Express aircraft showed repetitive defects of the 101 aircraft analysed, the data showed. PM Modi’s West Bengal Visit Live Updates: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit West Bengal on January 17 and 18, during which he will inaugurate and flag off multiple rail, road and infrastructure projects valued at over Rs 4,000 crore. On Friday, the Prime Minister will travel to Malda Town Railway Station, where he is scheduled to flag off India’s first Vande Bharat Sleeper Train connecting Howrah and Guwahati (Kamakhya) at around 12.45 pm. He will also virtually launch the Guwahati–Howrah return service. The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of West Bengal said that the claims and objections period to contest these issues will go on until January 15.  “More than 50% of the mismatch during progeny mapping is the father’s name mismatch. There can be cases where names have been legally changed, but software does not identify this, a proper verification process will solve this issue,” said CEO Manoj Kumar Agarwal after the draft electoral roll was published on the ECI website in the afternoon.  Mr. Agarwal said that all genuine mismatches will be resolved easily, and the other cases will get a hearing notice. Officials also assured that Booth Level Officers (BLO) have the data of the people, and they will conduct a verification …

The government on Monday informed the Parliament that the IndiGo airlines flagged no issues in a meeting held on December 1, just one day before the airline started cancelling its flights on a large scale. Passengers enquire at an IndiGo airlines counter amid flight disruptions, at Birsa Munda Airport, in Ranchi.(PTI) Responding to a question in Rajya Sabha, civil aviation minister Ram Mohan Naidu blamed IndiGo’s “internal system” and defended the Flight Duty Time Limitations (FDTL) that came into effect in November. “The IndiGo crisis happened due to problems in its crew rostering and internal planning system,” Naidu said while answering a question by MP Pramod Tiwari.
