In a rare summer sighting, flocks of flamingos have arrived at Nandur Madhmeshwar Bird Sanctuary in Nashik district, popularly known as the ‘Bharatpur of Maharashtra’, bringing a splash of pink to the reservoir amid April’s scorching heat. The migratory flamingos, locally known as Rohit, were spotted descending on the sanctuary on April 28, creating a striking visual across the water body at the confluence of the Godavari and Kadwa rivers. The sight is unusual for this time of the year, as flamingo congregations are typically associated with winter months. BALACHANDAR A proposal to establish a 50-MW demonstration wind farm in Dhanushkodi in Rameswaram taluk has drawn concern from local residents and environmentalists over possible ecological impacts on the fragile coastal ecosystem and the nearby Greater Flamingo Sanctuary. The project, proposed by the National Institute of Wind Energy (NIWE) under the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, aims to set up four wind turbines with associated facilities and a jetty for logistics and research. The Dhanushkodi site, classified under Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) categories IB, II, and IVA, has been identified as a test location for offshore wind energy research under India’s 2015 Offshore Wind Energy Policy. The proposal was discussed at a meeting of the Ramanathapuram District Coastal Zone Management Authority (DCZMA) held in 2024. The highly-anticipated crime thriller series of Shabana Azmi starrer Dabba Cartel has finally debuted on the streaming platform. Ever since the first look of the show dropped, a section of cine-goers were drawing comparisons of the show with Dimple Kapadia’s Saas, Bahu Aur Flamingo. Most recently, the veteran actress highlighted differences to emphasize how both shows differ. While speaking with India Today Digital, Shabana Azmi admitted she was worried about her show Dabba Cartel being similar to Saas, Bahu Aur Flamingo.
