Delhi HC grants interim relief to Dabur in FSSAI ‘100 per cent’ row

The Delhi High Court on Friday stayed the operation of the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India’s (FSSAI) August 3 order directing FMCG major Dabur India Ltd to immediately stop the sale of several food products carrying claims such as “100% Pure”, “100% Natural”, “100% Purity Guaranteed” and “100% Organic”, observing prima facie that such an order ought not to have been passed without first hearing the company. Justice Amit Mahajan, while issuing notice on Dabur’s writ petition, stayed the impugned order till the next date of hearing and directed the respondents to file their reply. MUMBAI: The state government has told the Bombay High Court that flavoured hookah tobacco does not qualify as “food” and therefore the court cannot take action against its manufacturers or exporters under the Food Safety and Standards (FSS) Act, 2006. The firms had approached the court through advocate Anukul Seth after Food Safety officials raided their factory in Pune district’s Maval tehsil and a warehouse in Bhiwandi in December 2025 and January 2026. Authorities sealed their factory, storage facility and office in Fort bringing their business to a standstill, claiming that the premises were being used without proper authorisation and in violation of FSS regulations and a July 2025 government order.
