He said that after the opposition placed concrete and detailed demands before the government, the authorities appeared rattled and were now scrambling with what he described as “empty assurances.” Speaking on the issue of pagdi chawl redevelopment and Shiv Sena UBT HQ, Thackeray termed the current policy “deceptive” and unfair to tenants. He alleged that while residents are offered limited benefits and little legal certainty, developers are being extended generous concessions. “The entire framework is skewed in favour of builders.
