Why Messi’s room number has Argentina dreaming of fourth star and his hamstring has them worried

4 min readJun 2, 2026 12:23 PM IST Lionel Messi’s room at the Origin Hotel is 202. Add those digits and you get four. Argentine fans on social media noticed within hours of his arrival Sunday night, and the maths has been doing the rounds since. It traces back to Doha, where Messi’s room at Qatar University was 201 – digits that sum to three, the same number of World Cups Argentina had won when they left. Nobody in the camp is confirming they care about this. The country very much does. The arrival itself was watched closely. Dozens of Argentinians had gathered at the airport before Messi and Rodrigo De Paul came in on a private jet from Miami late Sunday, the last two to complete the delegation. A van had them at the hotel in under five minutes – the Origin, a riverside property on the Kansas River in the heart of the city, taken over entirely for the squad’s stay. AFA president Chiqui Tapia was already there waiting, having flown in earlier …

India’s hottest district stays over 48°C for fourth straight day, residents call it ‘Agni Pariksha’

Uttar Pradesh remained in the grip of severe heatwave conditions on Thursday as Banda district became the hottest place in the country. Deserted Banda Babulal Chauraha. (HT PHOTO) (HT_PRINT) According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the district recorded a maximum temperature of 48.2 degrees Celsius, marking the fourth straight day at the top of the list. “It is scorching hot in Banda right now. It is a sort of ‘Agni Pariksha’ for Banda residents. I believe the reason for this rise in temperature is trees being cut down and illegal mining. Stone and sand mafia operate here,” a resident told news agency ANI. (This is a developing story. More details awaited.) Andhra promises cash incentives for third, fourth child: CM Naidu says population is ageing

Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday announced incentives of ₹30,000 for the birth of a third child and ₹40,000 for a fourth, as part of efforts to reverse the state’s declining population trend. Andhra Pradesh CM N Chandrababu Naidu’s latest announcement follows an earlier proposal to provide a ₹25,000 incentive for the birth of a second child. (ANI File Photo) Although he had once advocated population control measures, the CM said the time had now come for society to work together to increase the birth rate. “I have made a new decision. We will provide ₹30,000 immediately after the birth of a third child and ₹40,000 for a fourth child. Isn’t this the right decision?” Naidu said to public cheers on the sidelines of a cleanliness drive programme. Addressing the public meeting at Narsannapeta in Srikakulam district, Naidu said the government had taken the decision and would announce further details within a month. Former India wicketkeeper backs KKR to storm into playoffs after fourth straight win

3 min readMay 9, 2026 02:12 PM IST Kolkata Knight Riders’ eight-wicket win against Delhi Capitals in Delhi on Friday night was the team’s fourth consecutive victory of this IPL season. The Ajinkya Rahane-led side had lost five of their first six matches and had just one point after their sixth game. Since then, the Kolkata franchise has accumulated eight more points and currently sits in seventh place on the points table. With four matches remaining, three of them at home in Kolkata, former Indian wicketkeeper Deep Dasgupta believes the team’s march to the playoffs is very much on. He added that spinners like Varun Chakravarthy and Sunil Narine will play a huge role in shaping their chances. “It’s on. A couple of things. One is obviously that in the first half of the season, Varun (Chakravarthy) did not have a good start. So they depend a lot on those two bowlers, Varun and Sunil (Narine), for eight overs. And now in the second half, a lot of these pitches and venues, having been used …

The video also highlighted China’s “blue-water” navy capable of deep-sea operations, including footage from real-life drills in the western Pacific far from home and the use of advanced equipment. It also showed a compass being handed down through generations of naval officers named after the three aircraft carriers Liao Ning, Shan Dong, and Fu Jian currently in operation. IPL 2026: ‘Look for answers inside, not outside’: Rishabh Pant tells his LSG team after fourth straight defeat | Cricket News

3 min readApr 23, 2026 07:00 AM IST The normally upbeat Rishabh Pant cut a desolate figure after Lucknow Super Giants slumped to their fourth consecutive defeat. A target of 160 was considered inadequate at the halfway mark, but became the lowest total successfully defended in this IPL edition so far. Ninth on the points table with four points and half of their 14 league matches played, LSG’s season is unravelling around their captain, and Pant knows it. “I don’t have answers,” he candidly admitted immediately after the loss. “It’s difficult to explain but our batting is letting us down. You have to look for answers inside, not outside.” While laying the blame on the batsmen’s door, the skipper cannot absolve himself as he was himself guilty of playing an ugly swipe against left-arm paceman Nandre Burger after the loss of an early wicket, only to feather it to the wicketkeeper. “We should have taken our time and taken the game deeper, including myself. No excuses. As a batting group, we have to put our …

LSG blown away by RR speedsters as Pant & Co stumble to fourth straight defeat | Cricket News

Synopsis: Archer set the fire, Jadeja stoked it and Lucknow had no answer against Rajasthan Royals Jofra Archer’s opening burst, Nandre Burger’s relentless left-arm pressure, after Ravindra Jadeja’s 43 off 29 combined to hand Rajasthan Royals a commanding 40-run win over Lucknow Super Giants. Mitchell Marsh’s 55 kept the chase alive longer than it deserved to be. But the two pace bowlers ended it. Archer’s first over gave Mitchell Marsh two fours. That was as comfortable as the evening got for Lucknow. Archer came at them with steep bounce off a good length, 148 to 151 kilometres an hour. Aiden Markram had no answer to the short ball. The pull was attempted, and the top edge found wicketkeeper Dhruv Jurel. Rishabh Pant tried to slog Burger through the legside and found only a thin edge to the ‘keeper. Three ducks in the top four. Badoni run out off the first ball he faced as the home team was reduced to 11 for 3 inside three overs. Burger from the left arm, Archer from the right. …
