Lawrence Bishnoi gang crackdown widens as France arrests associate, Canada orders deportation

The crackdown on the Lawrence Bishnoi gang has intensified overseas, with an alleged associate arrested in France and another ordered to be deported from Canada, days after US authorities indicted jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and his close aide Satinderjeet Singh alias Goldy Brar. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) said on Friday that Garinder Dev, an alleged Bishnoi gang associate, had been arrested in France and would face extradition proceedings to Canada. After backlash for ‘black’ comment on France football team, Amitabh Bachchan says admitting a ‘mistake’ is not wrong

A few days ago, a tweet from veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan ignited controversy just as the FIFA World Cup 2026 gains more momentum. After the France national football team advanced in the World Cup by defeating the Paraguay national football team, Big B tweeted, “T 5794 -अब कहे देते हैं : the French WC 2026 football team .. the FRENCH !! 11 players in team .. 10 Black .. !! 1 white !!? the POWER of BLACK.” Users on the platform were taken aback at his comment on the racial makeup of France’s national football team and slammed the actor. What’s behind six European teams in World Cup quarterfinals

What’s behind six European teams in World Cup quarterfinals

5 min readJul 8, 2026 01:29 PM IST European teams don’t generally do too well in FIFA World Cups in the Americas. Germany’s triumph in Brazil in 2014 has been the only instance of any of them going all the way to the title across the Atlantic. But with six of the eight quarterfinalists in the 2026 edition coming from Europe, the odds of a team from that continent lifting the trophy on July 19 may be bright, even though Morocco and Lionel Messi’s Argentina may have other ideas. In fact, only twice has a European team won the World Cup outside its own continent – Spain won in South Africa in 2010 – but the balance of power in international football has shifted over the last couple of decades and it has only been Argentina that has been flying the flag for the rest of the world. Norway and Switzerland are not even traditional European powerhouses, but they are among the last eight while Brazil, Uruguay and Colombia are not. ALSO READ | FIFA …
