SC freezes bank accounts of real estate firm, directors; issues warrants against its officials

In a stinging rebuke of the “brazen disregard” shown by Haryana-based Parsvnath Developers towards homebuyer rights, the Supreme Court on Monday froze the bank accounts of the real estate firm and its directors, and issued bailable warrants against the company’s leadership after taking note of a 20-year struggle by senior citizens to secure possession of their homes. The Supreme Court has frozen the bank accounts of a real estate firm, directors; issued warrants against its officials (PTI) A bench headed by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant also came down heavily on Haryana authorities for their failure to enforce orders passed by the Haryana Real Estate Regulatory Authority (HRERA) against the real estate firm, saying that the case exposes serious concerns about the effectiveness of the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act, 2016, in securing relief for homebuyers. Maharashtra freezes new auto rickshaw permits amid traffic concerns

4 min readMumbaiMar 10, 2026 04:55 PM IST The Maharashtra government has temporarily suspended the issuance of new auto rickshaw permits across the State, citing rising vehicle numbers, traffic congestion and complaints of irregularities in the licensing system. Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik announced the decision on March 9, saying a new policy and standard operating procedure will be framed before fresh licences are issued. The matter will be placed before the State cabinet and new permits will be issued only after the policy framework is finalised. Why has the government taken this step The primary reason cited by the government is the rapid increase in the number of auto rickshaws, especially in urban areas. According to the transport department, about 14 lakh auto rickshaw licences have already been issued across Maharashtra. Officials say the number of vehicles has grown faster than the capacity of urban road networks, creating challenges in traffic management. Cities such as Mumbai, Thane, Pune and Nashik have witnessed a sharp increase in the number of intermediate public transport vehicles over the …

Players’ pleas ignored as AFC freezes Women’s Asian Cup 2026 prize money at $1.8 Million

Prize money for the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026 will remain at $1.8 million, with no increase from the 2022 edition, despite formal appeals from players demanding parity with the men’s competition. The global players’ union FIFPro released a report this week that included a letter sent to the Asian Football Confederation in December 2025. Signed by players from seven participating nations, including Australia, Japan, India and South Korea, the letter urged the AFC to address what it described as stagnation in prize money amid rapid global growth in women’s football. The players proposed four measures: aligning tournament rules and conditions with the men’s edition, introducing equal prize money, guaranteeing that at least 30% of prize funds be paid directly to players, and implementing a legacy programme to strengthen professional structures across Asia. “The 2026 AFC Women’s Asian Cup prize pool currently represents just 12% of the men’s equivalent and is the lowest among comparable continental tournaments,” the FIFPro report stated. Players speak out on inequality India captain Ashalata Devi emphasised the principle behind the …

The federal agency’s probe has found that both the former cricketers “knowingly” entered into endorsement agreements with foreign entities to promote 1xBet and its surrogates, PTI reported. Raina had earlier appeared before the Central agency in August, when he was summoned in connection with 1xBet.
