Expelled MLAs vs TMC over signature row: Mamata Banerjee’s battered party fights on two fronts

Expelled MLAs vs TMC over signature row: Mamata Banerjee’s battered party fights on two fronts

Sandipan Saha, one of two Trinamool Congress MLAs expelled on Monday, turned on the party leadership within hours of the action, alleging that the TMC “treats any talk of morality as an offence”. He accused the party of “forging” the nomination of the assembly Leader of Opposition. This is only the latest fracture in a party reeling from defeat at the hands of the BJP. (PTI Photo) “In this party, anyone who speaks of morality will be deemed to be engaging in anti-party activity, simply because the party itself does not engage in any moral conduct,” Saha told news agency ANI. “If, today, we have been suspended [note: party says expelled] for the sake of upholding morality, we are actually quite pleased,” he further said. Asked whether he would join another party, he said: “No, there is nothing like that. Why would I think about that?” Also read | TMC forgery case filed by 2 MLAs, says Suvendu Adhikari; Mamata …

SURESHKUMAR The electoral landscape in Kundara is reaching a fever pitch as the three major fronts intensify their reach-out programmes, each injecting a unique energy into the campaign. From places of worship to cashew factories and busy junctions, the air is thick with political rhetoric and the promise of a transformed future for this important constituency in Kollam. At a local cashew factory, sitting MLA P.C. Vishnunadh of the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) sets a personal and empathetic tone. Known for his approachable demeanour, Mr. Vishnunadh spends considerable time listening to the grievances of women workers, whose livelihoods are tethered to the struggling cashew sector. His campaign strategy leans heavily on his accessibility and his track record over the last five years, which he describes as a period of being “with the people” through every developmental milestone. He challenges skeptics to verify his performance through the Right to Information (RTI) Act, positioning …

Kerala election 2026: Polls heat up as major fronts step up campaigns and identity politics takes centrestage

As poll campaigning reaches a fever pitch, big names in national politics have landed in Kerala. | Photo Credit: H. Vibhu With barely a week remaining before public campaigning ends for the Kerala Assembly polls 2026, the major political fronts are overhauling their strategies and intensifying their push to win over the electorate for the single-phase polling on April 9. The electoral battle is crystallising as a direct confrontation between the ruling CPI(M)-led Left Democratic Front (LDF) and an invigorated Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF), with the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) struggling to muscle in as a third force in the sweepstakes. Against this backdrop, what began as an election focused on development, inflation, and unemployment has since evolved into something far murkier. Conspiracy theories of backroom deals between rival coalitions and cynical identity politics with communal overtures involving outfits such as the SDPI and Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH) are now dominating the fag end of electioneering. As campaigning reaches a fever pitch, big names have landed in the State. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who …

Salim said on Friday (February 6, 2026). The CPI(M) leader said that there was never any formal alliance with the Congress party but only a seat sharing arrangement. Professor Sajjad Raja, Chairman of the National Equality Party of Jammu Kashmir Gilgit Baltistan and Ladakh, revealed the harsh reality of Pakistan-Occupied Jammu-Kashmir (PoJK) and highlighted Islamabad`s support for terrorism.   While talking to ANI on the India-Pakistan tensions, Professor Raja mentioned that Operation Sindoor has instilled fear in the Pakistani Army and other terrorist groups in Pakistan.  “The army itself doesn`t die. Image Source : PTI United Hindu Front’s Jai Bhagwan Goyal on Dunki route United Hindu Front working president Jai Bhagwan Goyal on Friday described the lament of opposition parties as unnecessary regarding the Indians who have gone to America via the ‘dunki’ route. He said that it can be extremely fatal to encourage Indians going abroad from the ‘dunki’ route. Handcuffs and fetters to these Indians cannot be justified in any situation, he added.  Goyal Questions oppositions’ reaction  Goyal questioned why such a response from opposition parties did not come to the fore in Bangladesh’s vandalism. “Millions of illegal Bangladeshi and Rohingya immigrants have entered illegally into India, which is a big threat to internal security in the country, but it is a matter of regret and concern that the political parties are playing with the security of the country due to the politics of vote,” he said in a statement. He added that if the Indian government takes steps to send illegal Bangladeshi citizens and Rohingyas to their countries, then the opposition parties will, instead …
