A Delhi court on Tuesday granted bail to one of the accused in the stone-pelting incident during a demolition exercise near Faiz-e-Elahi mosque in Turkman Gate early this month. Additional Sessions Judge Joginder Prakash Nahar granted bail to Ubedullah, a street vendor, on a bond of Rs. 25,000 with one surety of the like amount. Turkman Gate stone-pelting case: Arrests rise to 20 as Delhi Police nab two more

Delhi Police on Tuesday arrested two other accused in the Turkman Gate stone pelting case, in which around 25-30 people pelted stones at police and MCD officials after they arrived at the spot with JCBs to demolish illegal encroachment near Faiz-e-Ilahi Mosque, as per a High Court order. The accused have been identified as Mohammed Imran and Adnan. With their arrest, the total number of people held in connection with the case has risen to 20. Earlier, the Tis Hazari Court reserved the bail pleas of five accused persons arrested in the stone pelting case. The court will pronounce the order on Wednesday at 4 PM. Delhi Police on Sunday arrested two more accused in the Turkman Gate stone pelting case, in which around 25-30 people pelted stones at police and MCD officials after they arrived at the spot with JCBs to demolish illegal encroachment near Faiz-e-Ilahi Mosque, as per a High Court order. The accused have been identified as Fahim alias Sanu and Shehzad. With their arrest, the total number of people held in connection with the case has risen to 18. Earlier, the Delhi Police imposed Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) around Faiz-e-Ilahi Mosque in Delhi, restricting gatherings following the recent stone-pelting incident near the gate area, officials said on Friday. A Delhi court on Thursday remanded five men arrested in connection with a stone-pelting incident near the Faiz-e-Elahi Masjid at Turkman Gate here in 13 days of judicial custody. The five accused — Mohammad Arib, Kashif, Adnan, Mohammad Kaif and Sameer — were produced before Judicial Magistrate Pooja Suhag. On Thursday, six more persons — Afaan, Adil, Shahnawaz, Hamza, Atharr and Ubed, all residents of the Turkman Gate area — were arrested. “We have arrested six more people.
