The period action film, which was initially expected to release earlier this year clashing with Dhurandhar 2, has now been pushed to June 4. As the release date approaches, Yash recently took a moment to speak about his director, Geetu Mohandas. ‘A gangster film with a female gaze’ Since the announcement of the project, there has been significant anticipation around this collaboration. Geetu, known for films like Moothon and Liar’s Dice, comes from a very different cinematic background compared to Yash, who rose to pan-India fame with KGF. Yash reflected on what she brings to the gangster world of Toxic, highlighting her “female gaze.” He told American content creator Sabeen Faheem, “That’s the most exciting part. So what happens is that when you generally say action films, it’s only restricted to male directors. That’s been the history in India. A lot of people have done that. A large-scale action film, that too a gangster …

Yash talks about sensual scenes in Toxic after backlash; says Geetu Mohandas brings ‘female gaze’ to action film

The promotional material for Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups has faced backlash for how the sex scenes were shot. However, on the sidelines of CinemaCon, lead actor and producer Yash insisted that director Geetu Mohandas brought a ‘female gaze’ to the action film. He also spoke about what was different about working with her vs male directors. Geetu Mohandas has directed Kiara Advani and Yash in the Kannada-English film Toxic. Yash on Geetu Mohandas’ ‘female gaze’ for Toxic American content creator and host Sabeen Faheem interacted with Yash at CinemaCon recently. In the video of the interaction posted on Instagram, she remarked that it’s rare in India to see a woman director like Geetu helming an action film like Toxic. Yash agreed with her, saying, “That’s the most exciting part. So what happens is that when you generally say action films, it’s only restricted to male directors. That’s been historically (true) in India. A lot of people have done that. A large-scale action film, that too a gangster film with a female gaze, is …

How Candidates’ challenger Matthias Blübaum’s former University studied “eye gaze patterns” to understand chess excellence

Candidates challenger Matthias Blübaum studied math and physics at the Bielefeld University on a campus adjoining the Teutoburg Forest. Bielefeld’s Cluster of Excellence Cognitive Interaction Technology (CITEC) also researched chess brains through expert behaviour, attention and decision-making in chess competitive games. Back in 2016, the Universitat de Bielefeld, released first findings of project “Ceege”, which sought to explore the secret of successful chess players, by recording players’ eye movements and facial expressions. According to the university blog post dated 23 December 2016, on uni.bielefeld.de, researchers revealed their preliminary results and explained why Norwegian grandmaster Magnus Carlsen again earned that year’s title of world chess champion yet again. Dr. Kai Essig and his colleagues also researched which computer models could predict a player’s behavior in a game. ‘Chess is one of the oldest – and most popular – board games,’ the blog post started, citing a chess board, game or computer as a classic gift option on Christmas Eves. “There are numerous theories on how the brain controls attention and solves problems in both everyday situations …

‘Mysterious Gaze of the Flamingo’ wins Un Certain Regard competition at Cannes | Hollywood

By Hanna Rantala and Miranda Murray ‘Mysterious Gaze of the Flamingo’ wins Un Certain Regard competition at Cannes CANNES, France, – Chilean director Diego Cespedes’ first feature, “The Mysterious Gaze of the Flamingo,” won the Cannes Film Festival’s second-tier Un Certain Regard category on Friday evening. The film set in the early 1980s centres around a queer family in Chile and the onset of the AIDS epidemic. “This award doesn’t celebrate perfection. It celebrates that fear, that stubbornness to exist just as we are, even when it makes others uncomfortable,” said Cespedes while accepting the prize. This year’s Un Certain Regard section, which usually focuses on more art-house fare, was particularly strong, with several promising directorial debuts from actors including Scarlett Johansson, Harris Dickinson and Kristen Stewart. “Once Upon a Time in Gaza,” which follows a low-level drug dealer and his underling in the coastal enclave the year the Islamist group Hamas took over, earned a directing award for Palestinian twin filmmakers Arab and Tarzan Nasser. To everyone in Gaza, “to every single Palestinian: your …

Avert your gaze from these Baldur’s Gate 3 mini figures

Avert your gaze from these Baldur’s Gate 3 mini figures

WizKids did Baldur’s Gate 3 dirty with its new D&D Icons of the Realms collection of miniature figures. The anticipated collection based on the beloved RPG (my personal 2023 GOTY) launched in April, and some buyers noticed that the characters look nothing — and I mean nothing — like how they were advertised. These cursed recreations of Shadowheart, Astarion, Karlach, Gale, Wyll, and Lae’zel look like unlicensed knockoffs when they are, in fact, officially licensed by Wizards of the Coast. And, it costs $50 for the set! Anyone who has played the game, or at least seen its cover art numerous times, knows what these characters should look like. They don’t look like 3D-printed discards predestined for the garbage bin, with little to no effort made to look authentic, unless perhaps you’re squinting from 10 feet away. In response to buyers posting pictures of the botched figures on social media and retail sites, and likely from GamesRadar and other sites posting about it last week, WizKids posted an apology to buyers — and to Wizards …

Anurag Kashyap left flabbergasted as Sona Mohapatra unleashes tirade against male gaze in his films, accuses him of not promoting her song | Bollywood News

Director Anurag Kashyap and singer Sona Mohapatra, who’ve collaborated on a song for his film Raman Raghav 2.0 in the past, had a tense exchange at an event recently. Attending the Synapse Conclave on artificial intelligence, Sona took several digs at Anurag, accusing him of not promoting her song “Qatl-e-Aam,” and critising his movies. She said that she appreciates Anurag’s writing, but can’t abide by his filmmaking, which, she said, is marked by a ‘male gaze’. Also present at the panel were filmmakers Nikkhil Advani and Vikramaditya Motwane, who had brief exchanges with the singer as well. At one point, she reminded Nikkhil of an argument they had, that she claimed to have won. “You win them all,” he said in response. “I want to say something to Anurag,” she began, speaking over everyone else. She continued, “I have observed your journey, and been a huge fan of you as a writer. Not too fond of your films, and the gali-galoch and the male gaze… But I’m a fan, nevertheless. You’re an artist. You’re one …
