Maharashtra gazetted officers threaten protest over Satara doctor’s death
The Maharashtra State Gazetted Officers’ Federation on Monday warned of launching protests if action is not taken within 10 days against those responsible in the Satara doctor suicide case, news agency PTI reported. In a memorandum submitted to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Health Minister Prakash Abitkar, the federation demanded that the government expedite the investigation and ensure the accused are punished through a fast-track court within 10 days. The federation also called for adequate security for all medical officers and the doctor’s family, along with the immediate formation of a special investigation team (SIT), PTI reported. The doctor was found dead in a hotel room in Phaltan, Satara, on October 23. A message written on her palm alleged that sub-inspector Gopal Badane had raped her multiple times and that a software engineer had mentally harassed her. Both have since been arrested.
