5 min readJaipurJun 11, 2026 10:13 PM IST Former Rajasthan deputy chief minister Sachin Pilot on Thursday again played down former CM Ashok Gehlot’s demand that Pilot accept his “mistake”. Meanwhile, Gehlot defended his June 7 comments as a factual account “spoken from the heart”, which was meant to correct misconceptions over the 2022 Congress president episode. While expressing hope that the matter would now end, Gehlot again suggested that “everyone” should recognise their mistakes and move forward. Talking to journalists in Dausa on the 26th death anniversary of his father, Rajesh Pilot, Sachin Pilot said, “I heard his (Gehlot’s) statement and what I remember is unhone bade prem se kaha ki jaise Ashok ji ka sneh aur lagaav unke putr Vaibhav Gehlot ji ke saath hai, utna he sneh aur lagaav mere saath bhi hai (With great affection, he said that he has the same love and attachment for me as he has for his son, Vaibhav Gehlot). 2022 ‘rebellion’ was against Sachin Pilot, not Congress high command, says Ashok Gehlot

Former Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot on Sunday accused senior Congress leader Sachin Pilot of stoking the party’s 2022 turmoil for personal advancement, saying the episode of September 25 was aimed at blocking Pilot’s elevation rather than challenging the Congress high command. Gehlot reiterated that around 100 MLAs had gathered during the crisis and expressed loyalty to the party leadership while opposing Pilot’s elevation. (PTI) In September 2022, a section of Rajasthan Congress MLAs boycotted a Congress Legislature Party meeting, effectively blocking a leadership-transition plan discussed at the national level. The move came amid speculation that Pilot could be elevated as chief minister, triggering deep factional tensions within the state unit. Addressing the media in Jaipur on Sunday, Gehlot said the mass gathering of MLAs during the crisis reflected their unwillingness to accept Pilot as chief minister. He argued that if it had truly been a rebellion against the Congress high command, he would not have remained CM afterwards. CNG price hike draws criticisms from Ex-Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot, demands transparency

Former Rajasthan Chief Minister and Congress leader Ashok Gehlot strongly criticised the Centre regarding the CNG price hike, claiming that the public is “suffering” due to the lack of transparent communication with the public. The prices of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) have increased by Rs 2 per kg with effect from Tuesday, adding to the commuting burden for users of CNG-powered vehicles. Speaking to reporters in Jaipur, Gehlot questioned the government, claiming that their explanation behind the hikes has created “misconceptions and misunderstandings”. “Today, they increased CNG prices. What kind of joke is this? You should speak openly about this is our compulsion. People will like that. What they are doing is precisely what creates misconceptions and misunderstandings among the people. The public is suffering; petrol and diesel are not available. There are queues… This is happening because the Government of India is not clarifying the situation,” he said. Gehlot emphasised that being honest about the global economic situation would be a better strategy than maintaining silence. “What is the opposition demanding? What is Rahul …

According to reports, the Iranian frigate IRIS Dena was attacked in international waters off the coast of Sri Lanka on Wednesday. The vessel was returning after participating in the MILAN Naval Exercise, a multinational naval drill hosted by India. Authorities said more than 80 bodies of Iranian sailors have been recovered following the attack, which allegedly involved a United States submarine. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has in the past refuted the Congress’s allegation that one of the main accused in the case was its member. Responding to a statement by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Mr. Gehlot said through his X handle, “The country’s Finance Minister, Mrs.@nsitharaman stated in Parliament while referring to the murder of Shri Kanhaiya Lal in Udaipur that no action was taken. This is factually completely wrong and misleading. The Rajasthan Police took immediate action and arrested the murderers within just a few hours.” He said, “Then, the Central government took the case from the police and handed the investigation over to the NIA. Since then, from 2022 until today in 2026, Shri Kanhaiya Lal ji’s family has been waiting …

New Delhi: In a widening of fissures between the Congress and the AAP, allies at the Central level as part of the INDIA bloc, Congress leader Ashok Gehlot has said the Arvind Kejriwal-led party is its opponent in Delhi and is harbouring a misconception that it will win again in the upcoming Assembly elections. In a swift, stinging response, Mr Kejriwal said Mr Gehlot’s remarks have laid bare the “secret cooperation” between the Congress and the BJP for the Delhi polls.  The public spat between the senior leaders of the INDIA allies comes days after the AAP said it would ask other members to remove the Congress from the opposition bloc unless one of its leaders, Ajay Maken, apologised for calling Arvind Kejriwal “anti-national”. Even then, the AAP had said that the Congress was doing everything it could to ensure that it helped the BJP in the Delhi elections. Answering a question on Wednesday, Ashok Gehlot, who is a former Rajasthan Chief Minister, said in Hindi, “They (the AAP) are our opposition. They are harbouring …
