3 min readFeb 7, 2026 08:56 AM IST India has secured concessions on steel, aluminium, copper, pharma, cars and car parts that fall under Section 232 ‘national security’ related tariffs, which only a few countries, such as the UK, Japan and South Korea, have received under the trade agreement with the US, the India-US joint statement released on Friday showed. However, the exact nature of the concessions was not revealed. Indicating that India has also agreed significant market access, the statement said India will eliminate or reduce tariffs on all US industrial goods and a “wide range” of US food and agricultural products, including dried distillers’ grains (DDGs), red sorghum for animal feed, tree nuts, fresh and processed fruit, soybean oil, wine and spirits, and additional products.
