In a blog post on Wednesday, Amazon details a Whole Foods concept store in Plymouth Meeting, Pennsylvania, where shoppers can order grocery items from Amazon using QR codes scattered throughout the supermarket. The Pennsylvania concept store has a built-in “microfulfillment center” packed with products that you wouldn’t normally find inside Whole Foods. When a customer places an order from Amazon Fresh, autonomous “ShopBot” robots developed by a company called Fulfil will begin to retrieve the products. Customers will then receive a text notification when their order is ready for pickup at the Amazon pickup and returns counter inside the store. “As we gather customer feedback from this first location, we plan to refine and expand this offering to additional stores over time,” Amazon says. New Delhi: The Delhi Police has arrested four teenagers and detained two minors, who allegedly robbed a grocery shop owner at gunpoint in Sultan Puri area here to fund a vacation to Manali, an official said on Saturday. The accused, identified as Vikas (18), Harsh (18), Sourav alias Hagdipo (18), and Himesh (19), all residents of Mangolpuri, along with two minors were apprehended in multiple raids conducted in Mangolpuri and Sultan Puri, he said. The accused had planned the robbery to go on a trip to Manali with their friends, he added. On Friday, a grocery shop owner filed a complaint stating that seven to eight unidentified boys barged into his shop. They looted cash and documents at gunpoint. They had also threatened him with a knife. A case was registered at Sultan Puri Police Station under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Arms Act. The shares of food and grocery delivery company Swiggy Ltd will debut on the stock exchanges today. The company’s Rs 11,300-crore initial public offering (IPO) is the second-largest issue in the primary markets this year after Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL)’s Rs 27,870-crore public offer. Swiggy’s IPO opened for subscription on November 6 and closed on November 8. It saw an overall subscription of 3.59 times. Analysts said Swiggy’s shares are likely to get listed flat or at a discount to the offer price. They have also recommended investors, who have not been allotted the shares in the IPO, to have a cautious approach and wait for the share price to settle before buying in the secondary market. Swiggy Ltd had set a price band of Rs 371-390 per share for its Rs 11,300 crore initial public offering. Amazon’s next ideas for growing its grocery business could blur the lines between Whole Foods and Amazon Fresh by enmeshing the two businesses’ fulfillment networks in a new set of experiments, according to The Wall Street Journal. Amazon has reportedly started shipping Whole Foods products from 26 Amazon Fresh fulfillment centers and plans to build a microfulfillment center at a Pennsylvania Whole Foods Market and stocking it with Amazon Fresh household goods and groceries. Another part of the plan includes an experimental “Amazon Grocery” inside a Chicago Whole Foods that offers brands and groceries that the upscale store wouldn’t normally carry, according to WSJ. The goal of the tests is to give Amazon customers a way to buy products “ranging from organic produce to Tide detergent and Cheez-It crackers” from one source, rather than multiple stores, the Journal writes.
