The accused have left their home, and we are searching for them,” said a police officer. According to the police, the sisters, aged 18 and 17, were riding a moped to their tuition classes when they were intercepted by a car. Their schoolmate, a Class 9 student, accompanied by her parents and grandmother, allegedly confronted them, accusing the sisters of teasing the younger girl. The police said the adults hurled abuses at the sisters before the girl’s father allegedly asked his daughter to bring a cricket bat from the car and instructed her to beat them. Ahmedabad: A debt-ridden hotelier in Gujarat’s Banaskantha district faked his death in a car accident to claim life insurance worth Rs 1.26 crore. The meticulous plan, however, was foiled by the police. Dalpat Singh Parmar’s three accomplices have been arrested and he is on the run. According to police, burnt remains of a car were found in Vadgam village on Friday. Inside the vehicle were the charred remains of a human body. When police checked the details of the vehicle registration number, they found it belonged to Dalpat Singh Parmar, 40. His family members confirmed that the body belonged to him, but the police smelled a rat. Samples from the body in the car were sent for forensic tests and the results did not match the samples collected from the family’s members. As police dug deeper, they found Parmar had taken huge loans to build a hotel and was neck-deep in debt. (Representational) Dahod, Gujarat: An eight-year-old girl died after an iron gate fell on her at a government school in Gujarat’s Dahod district, an official said on Monday. While the incident took place at a primary school in Rampura village on December 20, the victim died of head injuries at a hospital in Ahmedabad on Friday, the official said. A heavy iron gate on the school compound came off the hinges and fell on the victim Ashmita Mohaniya when she was playing near it, district primary education officer Mayur Parekh said. The girl sustained serious head injuries and was taken to a private hospital in Dahod city for primary treatment, and was later shifted to Ahmedabad civil hospital, where she died during treatment on Friday, he said. Following the incident, the school’s principal was suspended with immediate effect, Mr Parekh said.
