Health Minister Rushikesh Patel said in the Legislative Assembly on Wednesday that Gujarat received a total of 856 organs in the last two years from brain-dead donors. Patel, who was responding to starred question in the Assembly, said that organ donation and transplant have gained momentum in the state in the last few years. “As a result, a total of 856 organs were received in the state in the last two years… 464 kidneys, 235 livers, 65 hearts, 68 lungs, 3 pancreas, 8 small intestines, and 13 hands were donated. As many as 35,008 people in the state took the pledge to donate organs on the NOTTO web portal,” he stated.
