SIR: Over 73 lakh voters removed from electoral roll | Ahmedabad News

IN THE draft electoral roll published under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) campaign in Gujarat on Friday, a total of 73,73,327 voters have been removed from the electoral roll. Chief Electoral Officer Hareet Shukla in an official statement said that out of a total of 5,08,43,436 voters, enumeration forms have been received from 4,34,70,109 voters within the stipulated time limit. All these enumeration forms have been completely digitised, he added. Among these, while the highest number is of voters who have permanently migrated (40,25,553) followed by the deceased voters (18,07,278), absent voters (9,69,662), voters registered at two places (3,81,470) and 1,89,364 voters categorised under ‘others’. “Before the publication of the draft electoral roll, a total of 5,08,43,436 voters were registered in the state. After the publication of the draft electoral roll, the total number of voters remains at 4,34,70,109.
