Cine association slams Fawad Khan starrer Abir Gulal, demands complete ban on Pakistani artistes over Operation Sindoor remarks: ‘A shameful example’

The All India Cine Workers Association (AICWA) demands a ban on Pakistani artists, including actors like Fawad Khan and Hania Aamir. The association has strongly condemned the remarks made by the artists following Operation Sindoor. Following horrifying terror attacks at Pahalgam, the Indian army launches a responsive strike at nine terror camps across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir at midnight on May 7. The strike was directed at several terror camps across the borders, and the country was responsible for training the terrorists and funding them in numerous terrorist activities across India. In response to the successful operation, Pakistani actors, including Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan, criticized India’s action and called it cowardly. However, the artists from Pakistan are facing heavy backlash and boycott calls after the All India Cine Workers Association (AICWA) condemned their remark regarding the operation. The association has pushed Indian entertainment industry to stop blindly backing these artists in the name of art. On May 7, AICWA released its official statement on X (formerly Twitter), criticizing Pakistani actors’ response to the …

Just Like That | Holi: An opportunity to strengthen our bonds with others | Latest News India

As a child, and well into my teens, the festival I loved the most was Holi. For days before, my friends and I would plan for our buckets full of water-filled balloons, test and retest our pichkaris, and select our choice of colour for gulal. I could hardly wait for the morning of Holi, when the mock battles and ambushes would start, a riot of fun and laughter, that would last till late afternoon. Later, for many years, my wife and I and a friend hosted a Holi party on his farm, whose highlight was Dilli ka Khana. It was a vegetarian meal, with the best chaat from the old city, and bedwa aaloo. In 17th century literature, Holi is primarily linked to agriculture, a carnival to express the hope that the land will remain fertile. (HT Photo) Even then, I was surprised that many people, especially from the ‘upper crust’, kept away from Holi. They considered it too boisterous, almost an encroachment on their exclusivity. Some, of course, were allergic to gulal, or did …

Sachin Tendulkar ambushes Yuvraj Singh; Rahul Dravid gets smeared in gulal

Just like the rest of the country, Indian cricketers too played Holi with great pomp. In Raipur, Little Master Sachin Tendulkar led from the front and ensured that Yuvraj Singh, his teammate for the Indian team at the International Masters League (IML), was drenched well after leading a gang of pranksters to Yuvraj’s hotel room.  Tendulkar ambushed Yuvraj, who seemed to be sleeping late on Holi, in his room with a water gun. Tendulkar was joined by his International Masters League teammates like Yusuf Pathan and Rahul Sharma. “This water gun is loaded and we’re headed to Yuvraj’s room. He’s sleeping right now after hitting way too many sixes the last night (in the semi-finals against Australia at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Cricket Stadium, New Raipur),” Tendulkar says in a video he posted on social media before marching with teammates to Yuvraj’s room where they pretend to be from housekeeping to get Yuvraj to open the door before attacking him.  WATCH: Sachin Tendulkar plays prank on Yuvraj Singh Holi fun with my @imlt20official teammates, …

Chemicals in gulal may have caused Mahakal temple fire, says Vijayvargiya

Madhya Pradesh Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya said the fire at the renowned Mahakal Temple in Ujjain on Monday morning may have been caused by chemicals in `gulal`, a coloured powder used in rituals and during Holi. The blaze, which took place in the `garbha griha` (sanctum sanctorum) of the temple at 5:50 am, left 14 priests and `sevaks` (assistants) injured, eight of whom were shifted to the Sri Aurobindo Institute of Medical Sciences in Indore. “It seems all the injured at SAIMS are out of danger, But they will be under observation for the next 24 hours,” Vijayvargiya told reporters after visiting the health facility. “Every year, Holi is celebrated in Mahakaleshwar Temple by throwing gulal. Maybe, some chemical in the gulal caused the fire. However, we are not going to stop the tradition of playing Holi with Lord Bholenath in Mahakaleshwar Temple,” he said. It will be ensured that no chemical laced gulal is used next time, he added. The magistrate there has ordered an inquiry into the incident and the cause of the fire …
