Guntur AMC tightens chilli quality checks after China rejects a few containers

The AMC held a meeting with exporters on Friday. Speaking to The Hindu after the meeting, AMC Chairman Kurra Appa Rao said exporters from the region ship lakhs of tonnes of chillies to China every year and that exports have continued unhindered despite recent concerns over pesticide residues. He clarified that only three consignments were flagged for residue issues and that the development had not affected subsequent shipments. The companies whose containers were rejected were allowed to resume exports after complying with the required norms. “A few container rejections are not a major concern in global trade.
