Several electric vehicles were damaged after a fire gutted an EV showroom and three other shops in Gujarat”s Surat city on Thursday morning, officials said. No person was injured in the incident which occurred in the Adajan area, they said.  Flames and smoke covered the area, causing panic among people. The fire started in the EV showroom, and batteries and other spare parts used in the vehicles intensified it, causing the blaze to spread rapidly to adjacent shops, the officials said.  Several Electric Vehicles (EVs) were gutted in the fire, they said.  The city’s fire control room received a message about the major blaze in the Adajan area at around 9.30 am.  Vehicles from five to six fire stations were rushed to the location, deputy chief fire officer SG Dhobi said.  “Fire personnel broke the shutters of the shops to control the blaze and prevent any further spread to other shops.  The reason behind the fire is not clear, but it spread to a garage (EV showroom) and the adjacent medicine, ice cream and fast …

No casualties or injuries were reported. According to Kukatpally Station House Officer, T. Jagan Mohan, the distress call was received around 11 p.m., following which six fire tenders were rushed to the spot. A major fire broke out past midnight on Saturday near Lohia Udyan in Hadapsar, destroying around 19 shanties belonging to labourers. Officials reported no injuries or fatalities in the incident. A fire engine from Hadapsar immediately rushed to the spot and began operations.
