Maggie Gyllenhaal’s ‘The Bride!’ is a Frankenstein riff with a pulse| Entertainment News

Maggie Gyllenhaal’s “The Bride!” is a big, brash swing at a new “The Bride of Frankenstein” that struggles to cohere its many parts. But I’ll say this for it: It’s alive. Movie Review: Maggie Gyllenhaal’s ‘The Bride!’ is a Frankenstein riff with a pulse Just months after Guillermo del Toro presented his lavish “Frankenstein,” Gyllenhaal, in her follow-up to her excellent 2021 directorial debut, “The Lost Daughter,” has set her sights on reimagining 1935’s “The Bride of Frankenstein.” The sequel starred Boris Karloff and, in the dual role of the Bride and Mary Shelley, Elsa Lanchester. But in “The Bride of Frankenstein,” the shock-haired Bride is only on screen for a handful of minutes at the end of the film. Gyllenhaal, who also wrote her film, has corrected the imbalance, refashioning the story from the Bride’s perspective and concocting a protagonist of unfiltered feminist fury. As played by Jessie Buckley, she is both a victim of male control and a reanimated avenging angel. Buckley is also, like Lanchester was, Shelley. In the movie’s opening moments, …

Amid an ongoing Oscar campaign for her role in Hamnet opposite Paul Mescal, the actress is also promoting her character of The Bride, which has reunited her with the director. EXCLUSIVE: Christian Bale couldn’t forget Maggie Gyllenhaal’s fiery, eccentric The Bride script, ‘Really lingered with me’

The world of Frankenstein is intriguing and challenging the tale this time is none other than Maggie Gyllenhaal, the Academy Award-nominated writer and director of The Lost Daughter. In the lead are Jessie Buckley and Christian Bale as The Bride herself, Ida, and Frank, respectively. The characters were introduced to the world first in 1818 and have since evolved into these intense existences on the screen, so that their impact is immeasurable.  Christian Bale shares his admiration for Maggie Gyllenhaal and the creators of The Bride In an exclusive note to Pinkvilla, the Oscar winner himself shared his thoughts about being handed the script and how he felt stepping into the shoes of Frank. Jake Gyllenhaal’s Childhood Dream Came True With Ambulance! Why He Always Wanted To Work With Michael Bay!

Jake Gyllenhaal’s Childhood Dream Came True With Ambulance! Why He Always Wanted To Work With Michael Bay!

Jake Gyllenhaal Ambulance Action Scene ( Photo Credit – Instagram ) “I’ve always had this sort of dream since I was younger to be in a Michael Bay [movie].” And Jake Gyllenhaal finally made it happen with Ambulance. If you ever wondered what it’s like to star in a Bay explosion-fest, Gyllenhaal had been wondering the same thing, since he was a kid. Ambulance was classic Bay chaos. Two brothers (Gyllenhaal and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) planned a bank heist. It went south. They hijacked an ambulance. Cue the sirens, bullet storms, and high-speed mayhem through L.A., with an injured cop and an EMT (Eiza González) trapped inside. The movie did what Bay movies do – big action, big explosions, and enough plot holes to drive, well, an ambulance through. Critics weren’t exactly in love, but it pulled a decent 67% on Rotten Tomatoes. For Gyllenhaal, this wasn’t just another role; it was a full-circle moment. “I’ve always had this sort of dream since I was younger to be in a Michael Bay [movie], and it’s …
