Amid Row Over Public Dig At Pakistan’s 90s Stars, Mohammad Hafeez’s Damage Control

Amid Row Over Public Dig At Pakistan’s 90s Stars, Mohammad Hafeez’s Damage Control

The Pakistan cricket team’s struggles on the international circuit have seen relationships turn sour in some of the current as well as former stars. After Pakistan’s early elimination from the ICC Champions Trophy, Mohammad Hafeez took a swipe at some older stars like Waqar Younis, Wasim Akram, Shoaib Akhtar, etc. saying they didn’t win any major trophies during that era. Hence, failing to inspire the next generation of cricketers. After receiving backlash for his remarks, Hafeez has backtracked, saying his comments were taken out of context. “I am a huge fan of those who played in the 1990s, but when it comes to legacy, they left nothing for Pakistan. They didn’t win an ICC event they lost the (World Cups of) 1996, 1999, and 2003. We reached one final (in 1999) and lost that badly,” Hafeez had said during a Champions Trophy show in Pakistan. While it’s true that the likes of Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis, Shoaib Akhtar, Inzamam-ul-Haq, etc. didn’t win any major ICC titles, the cricketers of that generation are widely …

“Exposed Many Faces”: Ex-Captain Mohammad Hafeez’s Explosive Tweet As Pakistan Complete Series Turnaround vs England

Former Pakistan cricket captain Mohammad Hafeez did not hold back his feelings as Pakistan completed a stunning comeback and sealed a 2-1 home series win against England. Pakistan rode on the performances of spinners Sajid Khan and Noman Ali — two players who had been brought back into the side in the middle of the series — to defeat England. Hafeez made a tweet that was cryptic in nature as he spoke about ‘exposing faces’. While it is unclear as to whom the tweet was directed at, fans interpreted that it may be something to do with star Pakistan batter Babar Azam, who was dropped mid-series. “Two faces, Sajid Khan and Noman Ali, with star impactful performances brought home series win for Pakistan after more than three years. More importantly, their performances exposed many faces,” posted Hafeez on X. After being clean sweeped by Australia in the three-match Test series, things haven’t gotten any easier for the Pakistan cricket team on their tour of New Zealand. “Doesn’t Really Matter”: Pat Cummins On Mohammad Hafeez’s “Better Cricket” Comment

Melbourne : Australia skipper Pat Cummins played down Mohammad Hafeez’s remarks about Pakistan playing “better cricket as a team” during the second Test on Friday. Pakistan stood in pole position to emerge triumphant when they were 219 for 5 and needed 98 runs for a series-levelling victory as the match seemed poised to be a cliffhanger. But Australia skipper Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc bowled a remarkable fast bowling spell as they took the host to a second consecutive triumph with a 79-run victory. After the game, Hafeez who was emotionally charged declared that Pakistan were better and said as quoted from ESPNcricinfo, “We played better cricket as a team. I’m proud of that. The way the team had the courage to attack this game in the best possible way. If I sum up the game, the Pakistan team played better than the other team in general. Our batting intent was better, and while bowling, we were hitting the right areas. Yes, we made some mistakes that cost us the game but as a team, …
