Rahul Gandhi slams Centre over Smart Cities Mission, calls it half-baked scheme

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday launched a sharp attack on the Centre over the Smart Cities Mission, alleging that the scheme failed to deliver on its promises and was presented as a “half-baked” vision of urban transformation, reported news agency PTI. ‘Grand Announcements, Zero Accountability’ Gandhi criticised the government’s approach, claiming that the Smart Cities Mission reflected a pattern of making ambitious announcements without ensuring accountability. He said the scheme was heavily promoted as a transformative initiative but fell short in delivering meaningful improvements on the ground, reported PTI. According to him, the government focused more on publicity rather than measurable outcomes, leaving citizens questioning the real impact of the programme. Questions Raised Over Definition of ‘Smart City’ The Congress leader said he had raised several questions in Parliament regarding the mission, including how a “Smart City” is defined and what criteria were used to measure success. He also sought clarity on how many cities had actually undergone significant transformation and what tangible benefits citizens received, reported PTI. However, Gandhi claimed that no clear …

Anurag Kashyap clarifies his ‘half-baked’ comment on Pratik Gandhi, Tillotama Shome’s Saare Jahan Se Accha post blasting Netflix’s ‘morally corrupt’ top bosses

Anurag Kashyap recently shared a long note heaping praise on the British Netflix drama Adolescence. The maverick filmmaker didn’t mince his words while calling out the ‘hypocrisy’ of the ‘dishonest and morally corrupt’ top bosses of the streaming platform. Most recently, the filmmaker issued a clarification after calling Saare Jahan Se Accha ‘half-baked.’ Taking to his Instagram stories, Anurag Kashyap shared a note clarifying his remark on Pratik Gandhi, Tillotama Shome, and Kritika Kamra’s spy-thriller Saare Jahan Se Accha. He wrote, “Just a clarification. I have not seen the show to comment on the outcome. I talked about the time when Netflix.in brought a half-baked show to me as compensation for abandoning maximum city. It was half baked then. Since then there has been writers and creators who have worked on it. And only when it comes out,, one will know it’s good or bad. #saareJahanseAchcha.” For the unversed, the Gangs of Wasseypur director shared an appreciation post for the drama show, Adolescence, and alleged that top bosses of the streaming platform would’ve rejected such …

A24’s Opus review: a stylish symphony of half-baked ideas

Opus, A24’s new horror-tinged thriller from writer / director Mark Anthony Green, has a lot to say about the symbiotic (and sometimes parasitic) relationship between entertainment journalists and celebrities. In the film’s story about reporters tripping over themselves just to be close to an eccentric music icon, you can feel Green reflecting on how the media landscape has changed with the rise of modern Content™ empires built on parasocial relationships. Many of Opus’ ideas are right on the money, and the film is so stylish that it’s easy to get swept up in its visual splendor. But aside from its excellent original songs, the movie often feels like a flimsy rehash of glam-forward features that have come before it. Though Opus is fictional, Green — a former style editor at GQ — has clearly poured a lot of his personal experiences into overworked, under-appreciated music journalist Ariel Ecton (Ayo Edebiri). Conceptually, Ariel loves her job covering pop culture and the way it gives her opportunities to dig deep into the lives of well-known artists. But …

Incomplete releases: Half-baked, no fun!

After Arjun Kapoor and Bhumi Pednekar’s The Lady Killer made news for hitting the theatres on November 3 as an unfinished film, just five days after the trailer was released, we took a look at more such incomplete releases. Talking about the Ajay Bahl directorial, with barely any promotion and information, the film releases and if reports are to be believed, only 293 tickets across India were sold on Day 1. It was released on 11 screens in India, in Mumbai and Delhi NCR with 1 or 2 shows a day. In fact, Bahl had said in a statement, “To confirm, yes the movie is incomplete. 30 pages of the 117 page screenplay were never shot. A huge number of connecting scenes, Arjun and Bhumi’s entire romance, Bhumi’s dependence on alcohol, Ajrun’s sense of being trapped and losing everything and having to run from town, his sense of total despair, all these psychological beats are missing. So yes, it’s no surprise that the film feels choppy and disjointed and one finds it hard to connect …

Renuka Shahane on not understanding auditions: It’s a cold way of doing things, you get half-baked knowledge | Bollywood

Renuka Shahane is rarely seen on the big screen, but when she does, she makes sure her roles takes the centre stage. The 56-year-old, who recently portrayed the role of Vicky Kaushal’s mother in Govinda Naam Mera tells us that she is indeed “very picky” when it comes to performing on the silver screen, as she is here to make a difference. “The fact is that whatever roles are offered to me, I do want them to make a difference in the script. It’s not the length that actually decides (if I’ll do the film), but the fact that whether the film can be made or not without that character. It has to be consequential to either the plot or the character that arcs on the emotions. In that sense, yes, I’m choosy,” she confesses. Shedding light on other factors that count, Shahane adds that it also depends on the people she likes to collaborate with. “You spend so much time and invest so much on a particular subject and if it doesn’t see the …
