‘World of difference between PSL and international cricket’: Basit Ali puts Babar Azam’s century in context | Cricket News

3 min readUpdated: Apr 21, 2026 12:37 PM IST Peshawar Zalmi’s commanding 118-run victory, built on a Babar Azam century, drew warm praise from former Pakistan cricketers Basit Ali and Kamran Akmal on YouTube channel Game Plan — but both men were equally firm that the performance should not be used to settle debates about Babar’s international record. Basit called the innings among the finest in PSL history, citing the quality of the attack Babar had dismantled. “He faced two spinners and Alzarri Joseph — and Joseph is no ordinary spinner, he is a mystery spinner who has kept every batter under pressure in this tournament. That is the kind of century this was.” He added simply: “I was loving watching that batting.” The pair were particularly enthusiastic about Babar’s partnership with Kusal Mendis, which they said had transformed how Babar plays in the format. “When Mendis scored his hundred, Babar gave him big support. This time Babar scored the hundred and Mendis gave him big support,” Kamran said. “This combination is suiting Peshawar Zalmi …

Haris Rauf Takes Absolute Blinder In Field, Leaves Fans On Internet Speechless. Watch

Pakistan, a team that is often criticised for its poor fielding, saw pacer Haris Rauf pull off one of the finest catches in the team’s history. Rauf produced a one-handed stunner during the third T20I of the 5-match series against New Zealand on Friday to send opening batter Fin Allen packing early in the game.  Shaheen Afridi bowled a fuller deliver on the leg stump to Allen, who tried to flick the ball past the short-fine leg fielder. Haris, however, diving towards his right-hand side, turned into a superman as he plucked the ball in dramatic fashion. Rauf’s own reaction suggested that he himself couldn’t believe what had happened.  Rauf’s Gravity-Defying Grab! Pakistan Star Loses Cool After New Zealand Defeat: “People Are Waiting To See Us Lose…”

Pakistan lost to New Zealand in the second T20I encounter© AFP Pakistan cricket team fast bowler Haris Rauf lost his cool during the post-match press conference following his team’s defeat against New Zealand in the second T20I encounter. Pakistan were outplayed once again by the hosts as the Salman Agha-led side slumped to a 5-wicket loss. During the presser, Rauf said that it is quite common in Pakistan to criticise their players and even went to claim that many people are waiting to see them lose just so that they can criticise their performances. “It is now a common thing in Pakistan to criticise players. These are young players who have been given an opportunity. If you look at the rest of the teams, the youngsters are given full freedom,” Rauf said at the post-match press conference. “They are given 10-15 games. When you first enter international cricket, you struggle. That goes without saying. It is now common in Pakistan. People are waiting to see us lose,” Rauf added. New Zealand’s openers went …

Pakistan Pacers “Not The Best”: Ex-CSK Star Namedrops Shaheen, Haris, Naseem In Epic Dig

Pakistan Pacers “Not The Best”: Ex-CSK Star Namedrops Shaheen, Haris, Naseem In Epic Dig

Former England all-rounder Moeen Ali has dismissed the notion that Pakistan always produce the best fast bowlers. Moeen cited the example of current pace trio of Pakistan — Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf and Naseem Shah — saying that they are good, but not great. Pakistan had a tournament to forget as they crashed in the group stage of the Champions Trophy at home. The likes of Shaheen, Haris and Naseem all failed to impress, raising doubts over their abilities to take wickets. While Shaeen and Haris were retained in the squad for the ongoing white-ball series against New Zealand, Naseem had to bear the brunt of the team’s disappointing Champions Trophy show. “This is the thing people have. Especially people with Pakistani backgrounds. They’ll say Pakistani seamers are the best. I’m like no, they’re not. They’re good, but they’re not the best. Naseem Shah, Shaheen and Haris Rauf are very good. We’re not saying they are bad, but they’re not the best,” Moeen said on ‘Beard Before Wicket‘ YouTube show. Moeen, who will …

‘They say Pakistan seamers are the best and I’m like no’: Moeen Ali questions hype around Naseem-Shaheen-Haris trio | Cricket News

Former England all-rounder Moeen Ali questioned the hype over the Pakistan seam trio of Naseem Shah, Shaheen Shah Afridi and Haris Rauf and said they do not rank among the best bowling attacks in the current international circuit. While Pakistan’s pace spearheads had their moments during the 2022 T20 World Cup where they finished runners-up behind an English side that included Ali, the pace trio have not quite reached the same heights ever since. Shah, Afridi and Rauf have now been part of three successive ICC white-ball events where Pakistan suffered group-stage exits. The trio also had a forgettable campaign recently at home as Pakistan hosted the ICC Champions Trophy, the first global event in the country since 1996. Ali said he could not understand the perception about Pakistan producing world-class pacers and said that the Shaheen-Naseem-Rauf trio rated only as a decent bowling attack in the international bracket. ‘On what basis has he been recalled?’: Shahid Afridi questions Shadab Khan’s inclusion in squad for NZ tour, says Pakistan cricket is in ICU | Cricket News

‘On what basis has he been recalled?’: Shahid Afridi questions Shadab Khan’s inclusion in squad for NZ tour, says Pakistan cricket is in ICU | Cricket News

Former Pakistan player Shahid Afridi criticized the inclusion of allrounder Shadab Khan in the T20 squad which is set to take on New Zealand, saying that due to these incorrect decisions, Pakistan cricket is in ICU. Shadab was left out in the cold after Pakistan’s disastrous performance in the 2024 T20 World Cup but was recently reinstated and also given the vice captaincy for the tour against the Kiwis. “On what basis has he been recalled? What are his performances in domestic cricket or otherwise that he had been picked again. All the time we talk about preparations and when an event comes and we flop then we talk about surgery. Fact is Pakistan cricket is in ICU because of incorrect decisions.” Afridi also said that whenever a new chairman takes charge, he changes everything which becomes detrimental for Pakistan cricket’s progress. Story continues below this ad “There is no continuity, consistency in the Board’s decisions and policies. We keep changing captains, coaches or some players but in the end what is the accountability for …

Wasim Akram on Pakistan bowling unit: ‘Your three premier bowlers have average close to 50. You are not going to win any game unfortunately’ | Cricket News

With hosts Pakistan losing its fourth match against India in an ICC event with the six-wicket loss against India in Champions Trophy in Dubai on Sunday, it was also Pakistan’s second loss in the tournament and almost shutting the door for the hosts for the tournament. With fast bowlers like Shaheen Shah Afridi, Haris Rauf and Naseem Shah only accounting for two wickets in the match, former Pakistan great Wasim Akram has lashed out the pace trio of Pakistan and said Pakistan cannot win any game with such kind of bowlers. “Are you talking about fast bowlers? Fast bowlers for which Pakistan is very famous for. That fast bowlers factories come in Pakistan and whatever comes to mind. I will tell you the stats. Shaheen Shah Afridi, who is our main bowler. He has bowled 47 overs conceding 341 runs taking eight wickets at an average of 43. I am not talking of batting but bowling. Then Haris Rauf. Two matches out of five matches he was injured (Probably he thought who will play five …
