Controversial Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein insists he hasn’t done anything illegal. “I did not commit these crimes,” he said in a new interview with journalist Candace Owens. “I swear that before God and the people watching now and on my family. I’m wrongfully accused. But justice has to know the difference between what is immoral and what is illegal,” he said in the interview. Opening statements were made by attorneys on Wednesday in New York in the retrial of Harvey Weinstein’s rape and sexual assault charges as prosecutors accused the film producer of using his power to sexually harass and abuse three women, while the defence lawyers presented a contrasting explanations of Weinstein’s encounter with women. During the argument in New York state court in Manhattan, prosecutor Shannon Lucey said that Weinstein exploited his power of being a Hollywood gatekeeper to prey and sexually abuse women, and then by claiming to hold their careers hostage, the disgraced movie mogul also ensured that the women remained silent.
