Congress likely to win Haryana, its alliance with NC has edge in J&K: Exit polls

The Congress is likely to return to power in Haryana after a decade, and has an edge but may miss the halfway mark in Jammu and Kashmir, where it fought the Assembly elections in alliance with the National Conference, according to most exit polls on Saturday. In J&K, where Assembly elections were held after 10 years — the first after the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019 — some polls predicted a hung House while others gave a narrow lead to the Congress-NC alliance. The exit polls showed two broad trends — the near decimation of the PDP, and the BJP managing to hold on to its seats in the Jammu region. With 90 Assembly constituencies this time, only one survey, the India Today-C Voter poll, put the Congress-NC at near the halfway mark. It gave 40-48 seats to the Congress-NC, 27-32 to the BJP, 6-12 to the PDP, and 6-11 to ‘Others’. The party has pitted Parimal Pari from Ambala Cantt against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Anil Vij.    The party has fielded former Haryana Youth Congress chief Sachin Kundu from the Panipat Rural seat and state youth wing’s spokesperson Rohit Nagar from Tigaon. The Congress named  Satbir Dublain for the Narwana (SC) reserved seat and Sarva Mitra Kamboj for Rania. It is pertinent to mention that today is the last day for the filing of nominations. AAP Leader On Haryana Alliance Talks With Congress

There is a “desire, wish and hope for an alliance” on both sides, underscored Raghav Chadha amid a constant back-and-forth over seat-sharing talks between the Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) with just days remaining before entries close for nomination for the October 5 Haryana polls. The last date of filing nominations for the polls is September 12, and nomination papers can be withdrawn until September 12. “I can only tell you that both the parties have a desire, a wish and hope for an alliance. The last date for nomination is 12th September. We will take a decision before 12. If we don’t agree or if there is no win-win situation, we will leave it,” Mr Chadha told reporters following a meeting with Congress in charge of the state. The AAP leader stressed that he remains positive. Sources have said the Delhi-headquartered party wants to contest 10 of the state’s 90 Assembly seats.
