HCL Cyclothon to debut in Bengaluru with ₹30 lakh prize purse

The HCL Cyclothon will host its first-ever Bengaluru edition on February 8, 2025, bringing one of India’s largest road cycling events to the city’s NICE Road corridor. Organised by the HCL Group in partnership with the Cycling Federation of India (CFI), the event features a prize purse of ₹30 lakh and is designed to promote competitive cycling, community participation and active living. The Cyclothon has previously seen strong participation in Noida, Chennai and Hyderabad, drawing more than 15,000 cyclists from 25 states. Its Bengaluru debut aims to build on this success with world-class race certification, safety protocols and technical oversight provided by CFI. Participants can register in three categories: Professionals, Amateurs and the Green Ride. 1. (Representational image) One person died while two others admitted to a hospital in critical condition, after a hydrochloric acid leak at the Parwada Pharma Unit in Andhra Pradesh’s Visakhapatnam on Wednesday, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is currently taking stock of the situation. The incident occurred at around 4.30 pm on Tuesday and the affected workers started displaying symptoms around midnight, an official told news agency PTI. “Without taking any precautions, the workers cleaned fumes emanating from a reactor which underwent heavy pressure build up while mixing Hydrochloric Acid (HCL) and chloroform. In that process, they inhaled those fumes,” he said. All 15 Hindustan Copper Limited officials who had been trapped after a lift collapsed at Kolihan mine in Rajasthan’s Neem ka Thana district since Tuesday night were taken out Wednesday. Out of the 15 rescued, one is feared dead, an official told PTI. Neem ka Thana Collector Sharad Mehra said that the 14 rescued were sent to SMS hospital in Jaipur for treatment and one was taken to a company hospital for examination as he is feared dead. Fifteen personnel of the public sector company,  Hindustan Copper Limited,  got trapped in the Kolihan mine on Tuesday night when a cage used to carry the personnel fell down after a rope broke, police said. A vigilance team, along with senior officials and workers of the state-owned company, had gone inside the mine for an inspection. However, when they were about to come up, the rope holding the cage broke due to which it collapsed and the personnel were trapped at a depth of several hundred feet, police said. Ranked at Number 3 in India in the girls’ Under-17 category, Navya Sundararajan’s journey is marked by discipline, time management, and support from her family, school, and the entire squash community. Her journey in sports started with playing Basketball as a kid. She would eventually accompany her brother to squash tournaments, and that’s when her parents decided to put her in squash training as well. “I think I started off playing both squash and basketball. None of them were serious. Once you start playing a sport competitively, you can say goodbye to all other sports, because there is literally no time.” said Navya. She truly got serious and wanted to make a name for herself representing her country at the highest level. After COVID, there was no looking back, as she continued her endeavours to achieve her goal. Her current coach helped her understand her true potential and pushed her to do better everyday. And thus, the journey began.
