Red Fort attack: HC rejects accused’s plea to meet lawyer at NIA headquarters

The Delhi High Court (HC) on Friday declined to pass an order allowing the November 10 Red Fort blast co-accused Jasir Bilal Wani to meet his lawyer at the National Investigation Agency (NIA) headquarters, news agency PTI reported. Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma observed that Wani had not placed on record any order of the trial court rejecting his request for such a meeting. The court said the accused could not be treated as a “special person” and that established legal procedures must be followed, PTI reported. “You think that I am going to make my own procedure? I would not. This is not a special one,” the judge remarked. The observations came after Wani’s counsel claimed that the trial court had orally rejected their application. First the order of rejection has to be passed then you can challenge it before me… There is a constitutional process which we all follow,” …

NDA celebrates with firecrackers, RJD headquarters in silence

At the other end, RJD headquarters wore a heavy silence, with long faces, whispered conversations, and disbelief growing with every update from the Election Commission.  With the NDA heading toward a decisive victory, the BJP headquarters erupted into celebration. Workers surged past the iron gates, some cycling in from the old city, others spilling out of auto-rickshaws brimming with fluttering party flags, turning the street into a festive spectacle. The party office`s courtyard changed colours with every firecracker, orange from the saffron smoke, grey from the debris, and red from the gulal smeared on jubilant faces. Workers wearing Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar masks held their position at the entrance, breaking into impromptu jigs each time the BJP tally flickered upward on the large LED screen fixed above the porch. “Modi ka …
