The year 1986 holds great significance for Mohanlal. It was this year that he emerged with Rajavinte Makan and was crowned by the audience as the new superstar in Malayalam cinema. It was also in 1986 that he won his first Kerala State Film Award for Best Actor for his performance in TP Balagopalan MA.
