Not guardian ministers, but Tatkare and Mahajan will hoist flag on R-Day  | Mumbai News

Nationalist Congress Party’s Aditi Tatkare and Bharatiya Janata Party’s Girish Mahajan will hoist the national flag at the district headquarters in Raigad and Nashik respectively on Republic Day, despite a stay order being issued on their appointment as guardian ministers. The Shiv Sena led by Deputy Chief Minister Ekanth Shinde was reportedly unhappy over being denied the guardian ministership of these two districts. Employment Guarantee Scheme and Horticulture minister Bharat Gogawale and School Education Minister Dadaji Bhuse, who hail from Raigad and Nashik districts respectively,  were hopefuls of being named as the guardian ministers. Following an unrest within the Sena, a government resolution staying the order was issued on Sunday. Residents hoist black flags against new stone quarry near Ranipet

Villagers staging a protest with black flags against the stone quarry in the village. : Villagers of six hamlets on Friday hoisted black flags at their houses in protest against the preliminary works to run a stone quarry in Mohanavaram village. Residents of the village said that they were successful in restricting the operation of the private stone quarry on a hillock, located around a kilometre from the village, for over two decades. Since then, they have been keeping a vigil against any attempt to expand its operations to the village outskirts. On November 22, the Collector chaired a public hearing, organised by the Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board (TNPCB) in Thimiri, to ascertain the views of the affected residents. “During the public hearing, we submitted petitions to Ranipet Collector J.U. Chandrakala against the quarry. However, the quarry owner has started to clear the acquired land for its formal operations a few days ago,” said D. Selvaganapathy, a farmer who led the protest. About 44 acres of private land have been acquired for the quarry. …

How Hoist the Colours became the official song of North Sea TikTok

No one on North Sea TikTok ever seems to know how they got there. They were just innocently scrolling their feeds from dance challenge to gardening tip to relationship update to workout video to standup comedy clip, when suddenly, they’re dropped into some of the most treacherous waters on the planet.  The videos are almost always the same: 60 seconds of waves crashing over the hulls of unsuspecting ships, workers hanging off of oil rigs while storms roil around them, water coming onto the deck of a boat at such speed, you can’t imagine how even the camera survived. “I don’t know why my feed is filled with videos of the North Sea,” a thousand commenters always say, “but I love it.” I can’t say exactly how the trend started (because TikTok’s platform search tools are horrifically bad), but I’m pretty sure most people found North Sea TikTok the same way I did. On November 27th, 2023, an account called @ukdestinations — which was for years dedicated to showing viewers unexpectedly cool things around the …
