Jason Holder Delivers Twin Strikes to Dent RCB’s Charge

A brilliant over from Jason Holder has gained momentum for the Gujarat Titans during the qualifier 01 of the IPL 2026 game played against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru. He bagged the crucial wickets of Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal in a single over, restricting the run flow for Bengaluru. After being invited to bat first, Virat Kohli and Venkatesh Iyer opened the innings while Mohammed Siraj opened the bowling attack. Despite a solid start from Iyer, he couldn’t convert the start as Kagiso Rabada bagged the wicket of the opener for 19 runs. He got dismissed on a back of lengthy delivery where the batter swings the bat across the line, but got top edged as the ball flied to mid off and Shubman Gill picked a catch. Devdutt Padikkal who came to bat at No. 3 joined Virat Kohli as the side scored 76 runs in the powerplay. The duo forged a 72-run partnership before Jason Holder picks the wicket of Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal in the same over. Viat Kohli got dismissed …

General Education Principal Secretary Sharmila Mary Joseph who announced the SSLC results on Friday is herself a SSLC rank-holder. Ms. Joseph bagged the third rank in 1986, securing 580 marks. A student of Holy Angels’ Convent school in the capital city, she worked hard and excelled in studies. “The competition was tight in our school. Every year, students would get top ranks. Many of us aspired to reach the top,” she said. In 1986, girls took the top three ranks, with Ms. Joseph sharing the third spot with a male student. That was also the time when the pass percentage was 46.73%, unlike now when pass percentages have crossed 99%. “Exam pressure too existed. The SSLC exams would be held on consecutive days, in the morning and afternoon. There was no gap between exams as exists now.” Asked if she would want the rank system to return, Ms. Joseph said the change to grades was made on the basis of several studies that highlighted the extreme pressure that the race to achieve ranks put on …

Jason Holder reveals desire for return to Test cricket amid heroics in IPL: ‘Haven’t closed that chapter…’ | Cricket News

3 min readMay 4, 2026 12:05 PM IST Gujarat Titans took their time getting Jason Holder in as a regular in their playing eleven this season and the senior all-rounder has been pivotal to their recent upturn in fortunes. Holder took four wickets for 24 runs on Sunday as GT beat table-toppers Punjab Kings and thus managed their third consecutive win. Before that, he took two wickets for 29 runs against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, in addition to taking a slew of important catches. Holder’s success on Sunday in particular could be in part attributed to him hitting the good length consistently despite batters looking to hit every ball out of the park, something that is a byproduct of a long and succesfull career in Test cricket. Holder, who captained West Indies in 37 Test matches between 2015 and 2020, and was rated as the best all-rounder in the world at various points during this period, said after the game on Sunday that he still hasn’t closed the doors on the format. “Fair to say that, …

Jason Holder on why GT have had success in their short IPL history: ‘We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves’ | Cricket News

3 min readMay 4, 2026 08:54 AM IST Gujarat Titans are into their fifth IPL season and have already built a strong record – title winners in 2022, runners-up in 2023 and Playoff qualifiers last year. All-rounder Jason Holder, who won his second Player of the Match award for taking 4/24 against PBKS, cited calmness as one of the reasons behind GT doing well in the IPL. “When you look at the history of this franchise, they’ve got a pretty good record. They’ve done well consistently over the five years that they’ve been in this competition. So we must be doing something well. Whether we’ve got enough to win the competition, I think the best teams hold their nerve deep in the tournament. This franchise has won the competition in its first year. So it’s not to say we haven’t won or we can’t win playing the way that we play.” “Clearly, that shows you that what we’re doing makes sense. And we’re well supported by the support staff. Ashish has been outstanding, and his …

Holder sets it up, Sudharsan and Sundar seal victory for GT

Mumbai: Even with evenly matched batting showdowns, close matches have been few and far between. With bowlers in the game, they can build pressure. That external force pushes batting sides to make mistakes they would otherwise not commit. Gujarat Titans’ Jason Holder interacts with captain Shubman Gill, left, during the match against Punjab Kings. (PTI) Being asked to chase down 164, Gujarat Titans were the overwhelming favourites. On 49/1 after the Powerplay, they were on course. Having brought it down to 40 off 30 balls with six wickets in hand, they were still the favourites. But Punjab Kings bowlers just hung in there. They narrowed the equation to 17 runs needed off 12 balls. At that stage, Arshdeep Singh used all his experience to deliver a six-run over, leaving 11 needed off the final over. Yuzvendra Chahal had overs in store, but this had been a night for disciplined fast medium bowling. Shreyas Iyer summoned Australian allrounder Marcus Stoinis. Impact Player era or not, this was an old-fashioned T20, and everybody had to chip in. But …

Rabada got Kohli. Holder got everyone else

Rabada got Kohli. Holder got everyone else

5 min readUpdated: May 1, 2026 12:14 AM IST Gujarat Titans did not win this game with one moment. They won it with accumulation — Shubman Gill’s 43 in 18 balls, Jos Buttler’s four sixes in the Powerplay, Rahul Tewatia’s calm at the death, and through it all, Jason Holder standing on the field, arms aloft, slowly turning to the crowd. Royal Challengers Bengaluru, dismissed for 155 — their first all-out of the season — never recovered from the middle-over carnage that Holder and Rashid Khan visited upon them. GT knocked off the target in 15.5 overs, winning by four wickets. Rabada’s revenge Kagiso Rabada had conceded five fours in his first over. The ball had gone past cover point, through mid-off, over mid-on, to deep backward point, and between cover point and extra cover. Virat Kohli’s bat had found every gap. Then, in the second over, Rabada came short and quick around middle and leg. Kohli advanced. The pace hurried him, the bounce handcuffed him. The shape left his body before the bat came …

However, Sai Sudharsan went on to post his fifty in the 8th over and went on to aggressive mode accerelating his innings. In the 10th over, Gujarat Titans crossed the 100-run mark for no loss. Sai Sudharsan also achieved a major feat becoming the fastest to reach 2000 IPL runs. The duo made a 128 run partnership for the first wicket. Suyash Sharma gave the necessary breakthrough dismissing Shubman Gill for 32 runs. He got dismissed on a googly where Gill doesn’t get the timing right as Padikkal took the catch at deep. Jos Buttler who came …

Ashok Sharma is ‘one to watch out for’: Holder all praise for GT’s young pacer | Cricket News

2 min readApr 21, 2026 08:10 PM IST Ashok Sharma is among the young Indian fast bowlers who have turned heads thus far in the 2026 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) and his senior Gujarat Titans teammate Jason Holder feels that the 23-year-old has it in him to go a long way in his career, provided he stays injury-free. GT may have lost the match in which Ashok made his debut by three wickets but he first attracted attention by maintaining speeds between 140kph and 145kph consistently before bowling an impressive 18th over in which he gave away just five runs. “To see a young bowler come in and bowl at 145 kmph consistently… Ashok has been one of those guys who has really impressed me on that front,” Holder is quoted as saying by PTI.  “He’s got pace, and beyond his pace is his skill… You see his slower balls, you see he’s able to nail the yorkers, and over a period of time, he’ll gain experience, he’ll gain knowledge and understand …
