A 60-year-old homeless man died after he was attacked by stray dogs in Southwest Delhi’s Dwarka, police said on Friday. The attack happened near St Mary’s school in Dwarka’s Sector 19 on Tuesday night, when the deceased identified as Raju encountered a pack of stray dogs howling at him, officers said. “Raju ran towards a nearby park to save himself, but the dogs followed and attacked him. He was severely injured in the attack. His clothes were almost entirely torn off when police reached the spot,” a police officer said. He succumbed to his injuries on the intervening night of Wednesday (January 7) and Thursday( January 8) while undergoing treatment, they added. Raju is a native of Uttar Pradesh’s Sitapur, they added. According to the police, Raju had been living on roads and footpaths for over a year after leaving home following frequent domestic disputes. He is survived by his wife and three children. “His wife works as a domestic help at a society in Sector 11 to support the family,” a police officer said. …

Tylor Chase, best known for playing Martin Qwerly on Nickelodeon’s Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide, is living on the streets in California and has repeatedly declined offers of housing and treatment, according to local police. Authorities say officers interact with the former child actor at least once a week as part of ongoing outreach efforts as he is in a poor condition. Ryan Railsback, Public Information Officer for the Riverside Police Department (RPD), said officers are very familiar with Chase and regularly check on him as per TMZ. “Officers are very familiar with Chase and interact with him at least once a week,” Railsback said. He added that the department’s Public Safety Engagement Team offers help during these encounters. People beat the cold during night at pagoda-style shelter set up near PD Tandon Park in Prayagraj. Prayagraj has begun to experience a sharp dip in temperatures, especially during the morning and evening hours, with the mercury falling below 10 degrees Celsius after sunset. To prevent homeless people from spending freezing nights on the streets, the Prayagraj Municipal Corporation has set up 35 temporary night shelters within the city limits.
