At least 31 school kids studying in a government school at Shyambazar in Kolkata have fallen ill and admitted to a hospital since Monday evening, officials aware of the developments said. Parents claim that their children fell ill after eating mid day meal while others said their kids complained of poor water quality. State health minister Sharadwat Mukhopadhyay went to the hospital late on Monday night to take stock of the situation. “From around 6pm, some students complained of nausea and stomach ache. The hostel warden promptly rushed the girls to the hospital. Some of the girls were suffering from dehydration. The treatment was started immediately and IV fluid and medicines were given. Giri More than 100 tribal students of three residential schools in Maharashtra’s Amravati district have been hospitalised after suffering from suspected food poisoning, officials said on Monday (July 27, 2026). A police complaint has been lodged against the operator of the central kitchen supplying meals to the schools, tribal development project officer (Dharni) Siddarth Shukla said. The students complained of vomiting after eating meals in the residential schools. On Saturday (July 25, 2026), 69 students were admitted to a government hospital in Dharni. On Sunday (July 26, 2026), similar symptoms were reported among 70 students at the government residential schools in Bijudhavdi and Savlikheda in Dharni tehsil and they were also hospitalised, the official said.
