Also, Supreme Court lawyer Rajvinder Singh Bains, who served as the lawyer for human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra has also said that this is the judicial history of the country. I was hoping that once the film is out people will see there is nothing problematic about it. It’s just a common man’s story who showed tremendous courage to fight for death certificates of people by putting himself and his family on the line. ‘Deliberate political attack’: MEA rejects Pakistan President’s remarks on minority rights in India

India on Saturday strongly rejected comments made by Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari on the alleged demolition of Muslim historical sites in the country, saying that he has no locus standi to comment on India’s internal matters. Asif Ali Zardari’s remarks came after the Indian Railways issued a notice to occupants of the Ganj Shaheeda mosque, located near the main entrance of Kashi railway station, asking them to vacate the premises by June 20. (X/The President of Pakistan) The ministry of external affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said in a statement that the comments made by Zardari were “particularly absurd given Pakistan’s own abysmal record on human rights”. “India categorically rejects the unwarranted comments made by the President of Pakistan. He has, in any case, no locus standi to comment on matters that are internal to India. These comments are particularly absurd given Pakistan’s own abysmal record on human rights, which is a matter of global commentary. Pakistan’s long history of systematically targeting and victimising minorities across various faiths is notorious,” Jaiswal said in the statement. …

The Delhi High Court on Wednesday granted bail to Kashmiri human rights activist Khurram Parvez in a terror-conspiracy case investigated by the National Investigation Agency (NIA), holding that his nearly four-and-a-half years of incarceration, coupled with the slow progress of trial proceedings, warranted his release despite the stringent restrictions on bail under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). Senegal becomes latest African country to toughen punishment for homosexual acts The new bill, which was introduced to parliament last month by Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko, describes homosexual acts as being “against nature.” It doubles the punishment for those convicted from prison sentences of one to five years to between five and 10 years. Nearly all lawmakers voted in favor of the bill during Wednesday’s plenary, with no opposition and three abstentions. It needs presidential assent before becoming a law, with Senegal’s President Bassirou Diomaye Faye widely expected to sign it. In another change, the proposed law punishes what it calls the “promotion” or “financing” of homosexuality, an attempt to crack down on organizations that support sexual and gender minorities. The fines for the offense were also raised to a maximum of 10 million CFA , but the bill retains …
