8 years later, Arijit Singh’s directorial debut Sa still remains unreleased; here is why the singer is not in a hurry | Bollywood News

4 min readKochiMay 4, 2026 09:02 PM IST While soaring in a peerless manner, singer-composer Arijit Singh also harboured a dream of directing a feature film one day. In fact, he first shared this desire almost a decade ago. Two years later, in 2018, his directorial debut Sa premiered at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI). Co-created with his wife, Koyel Roy, Sa featured their youngest son, Lalu Pragun Singh, in the central role. Although the couple wished to bring the film to the public eventually, Sa remains unreleased even now. Not just Arijit, the movie was also supposed to mark the Hindi debut of actor Chitrangada Satarupa, the daughter of Bengali filmmakers Satarupa Sanyal and Utpalendu Chakrabarty. Although its team was informed about a year ago that the movie was gearing up for release, Sa is yet to see the light of day. Against this backdrop, Chitrangada recently spoke about Sa and her experience working with Arijit Singh. ‘Why are we always in a hurry?’: Vaibhav Sooryavanshi must not be given target of India debut, says R Ashwin | Cricket News

2 min readUpdated: Mar 31, 2026 10:50 AM IST Talks of fast-tracking Vaibhav Sooryavanshi to the senior Indian team are picking up pace after the 15-year-old walloped another quickfire half-century during the IPL 2026 match against Chennai Super Kings in Guwahati on Monday. While the Rajasthan Royals opener’s 15-ball fifty deflated CSK at the ACA Stadium, India spin legend R Ashwin has cautioned against throwing the target of a national cap to Sooryavanshi just yet. Having made his IPL debut in 2025 and already notched up a sensational 35-ball century, the fastest by an Indian in the tournament, Sooryavanshi went on to shine in India’s U-19 World Cup win earlier this year. Ashwin said Sooryavanshi must not be pressurised into a race for a berth on the national side. “Don’t give him such a target. He is not even a guy, he is a kid. If MS Dhoni is playing till 45 [44], and if Suryavanshi plays till 40, he has two and a half decades left in cricket. Leave him alone, he will come …

Renowned economist and Nobel laureate Amartya Sen. (File image) Nobel laureate Amartya Sen on Saturday raised concerns over the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in West Bengal, warning that the process is being carried out “in a hurry” and voters did not have adequate time to submit required documents. While speaking from Boston to news agency PTI, the 92-year-old economist said that while electoral roll revisions can strengthen democracy if done carefully, the current exercise in Bengal lacks adequate time and care. “A thorough review of electoral rolls done carefully with adequate time can be a good democratic procedure, but this is not what is happening in West Bengal at this time,” he said. Sen argued that voters are not being given sufficient opportunity to submit documents to establish their eligibility. “The SIR is being done in a hurry, with inadequate time for people with voting rights to …

The Weeknd’s Hurry Up Tomorrow Bombs At Box Office—Is His Acting Career Already Doomed?

The Weeknd’s Hurry Up Tomorrow Bombs At Box Office—Is His Acting Career Already Doomed?

The Weeknd’s Hurry Up Tomorrow Tanks At The BO ( Photo Credit – Instagram ) The Weeknd, now attempting to shed his stage name and embrace his real identity, Abel Tesfaye, took another shot at acting this week, and well, he missed once again. His latest effort, Hurry Up Tomorrow, a musical thriller directed by Trey Edward Shults, landed hard with a thud. The film opened to brutal reviews and bombed at the box office, continuing the rough streak that began with his previous acting project, HBO’s The Idol. That show was cancelled shortly after its premiere season, leaving behind a trail of scathing critiques and a dismal 19% score on Rotten Tomatoes. The Weeknd’s Latest Performance Is Worse Than The Idol Unfortunately for Tesfaye, Hurry Up Tomorrow has done even worse. The film has been given an even lower score, sinking to 16% on the same aggregator site. The story features him as a distorted version of himself (yes, yet again), the same approach that he took in The Idol. Audiences and critics alike …

Jenna Ortega Hits A Career Low With Hurry Up Tomorrow — Critics Slam, But Fans Defend

Jenna Ortega’s Hurry Up Tomorrow ( Photo Credit – Instagram ) Jenna Ortega walks into 2025 with more audience love than critical acclaim. Her latest film, Hurry Up Tomorrow, continues a trend that’s become familiar, where critics aren’t buying in, but viewers are showing up anyway. The psychological thriller, directed and edited by Trey Edward Shults, pairs Ortega with Abel Tesfaye, better known as The Weeknd, and Barry Keoghan. It’s also a visual companion to The Weeknd’s sixth studio album, and his first major leap into feature filmmaking. A Star-Studded Psychological Thriller That Falls Flat with Critics The movie didn’t exactly open strong. At first, the critic score hovered at rock bottom, hitting a flat zero before crawling up to a still-bleak 13% (per Rotten Tomatoes). Meanwhile, the audience proved far more forgiving, handing it a 70%, which shows a sizable gap in the disconnect between general viewers and film reviewers. As far as The Weeknd is concerned, it’s another shaky start in scripted entertainment, dropping even lower than his heavily criticized HBO series The …

The Weeknd makes his silver screen debut with Hurry Up Tomorrow, fans say its ‘one of the worst movies of the decade’

Abel Tesfaye, better known to the world as The Weeknd, has spent over a decade serenading listeners with hypnotic vocals and emotionally raw lyrics. But in 2025, he’s stepped off the stage and onto the screen in Hurry Up Tomorrow, a psychological thriller that doubles as both a feature film and a companion to his newest album. Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Trey Edward Shults, this moody, fragmented tale marks The Weeknd’s official silver screen debut as the leading actor. The only problem? Hardly anyone is watching. The Weeknd makes his silver screen debut About the film Hurry Up Tomorrow follows a fictionalised version of The Weeknd, portrayed by Tesfaye himself, as he spirals into an internal descent of fame-induced exhaustion, surreal fan encounters, and personal disintegration. Barry Keoghan plays Lee, a confidante and hype man, while Jenna Ortega takes on the role of Anima, a dangerously devoted fan whose obsession may or may not be real. Shot with dreamlike visuals, synth-heavy soundscapes, and shadowy aesthetics, the film is less a traditional narrative and more a …

US Federal Reserve doesn’t ‘need to be in hurry’ to lower interest rates, says Jerome Powell

US Federal Reserve doesn’t ‘need to be in hurry’ to lower interest rates, says Jerome Powell

Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell said officials are not in a rush to lower interest rates, adding the central bank is pausing to see further progress on inflation following a string of rate reductions last year. Jerome Powell stressed that the Fed wants to see “serial readings” suggesting further progress on inflation.(Bloomberg) “We do not need to be in a hurry to adjust our policy stance,” Powell said Wednesday, noting that the economy remains strong and interest rates are no longer restraining the economy as much as they had been. The Federal Open Market Committee voted unanimously to keep the federal funds rate in a range of 4.25%-4.5%, after lowering rates by a full percentage point in the final months of 2024. Strong economic growth coupled with a solid labor market allows officials to wait for further evidence of cooling inflation before adjusting rates again. It also offers them time to evaluate how President Donald Trump‘s policies on immigration, tariffs and taxes may impact the economy. “The committee is very much in the mode of …
