Biopic on cricketer Amir Hussain Lone announced

Impossible dreams come true. Cricketer Amir Hussain Lone is the personification of that truth. Lone, who lost his arms in an accident at the age of eight, didn’t let that deter him from realising his dream of turning cricketer, even becoming the captain of Jammu and Kashmir para cricket team. Now, a dream that he never dreamt has come true — a biopic on his life was announced at the ongoing Cannes Film Festival.  The movie, a story of the indomitable human spirit, will be directed by Nishil Sheth. Five years ago, the heads at Pickle Entertainment and Aarambh Productions approached Lone for the biopic. “I had a cricket match in Mumbai. That’s when the news spread that there was a cricketer from Kashmir, who was armless, but was representing his country. Later, the makers visited me in Kashmir and were shocked listening to my story,” said Lone, speaking exclusively to mid-day. How Sakib Hussain, the ‘Rabada of Gopalganj’, went from tennis-ball cricket to a four-wicket IPL debut

How Sakib Hussain, the ‘Rabada of Gopalganj’, went from tennis-ball cricket to a four-wicket IPL debut

Six years ago, a fast bowler’s nickname was enough to get Robin Singh’s attention. Singh, the coach at the GenNext Cricket Academy in Patna, had asked his fast bowler nephew for recommendations. “My nephew told me Sakib’s nickname on the tennis-ball cricket circuit was ‘Rabada’ because he was fast. I am most excited to coach fast bowlers. I asked my nephew to ask him to come to Patna. With the leather ball Sakib was not accurate, but he had potential. He was nippy off the wicket. For most fast bowlers, after the ball pitches it loses pace. Sakib’s loss was minimal,” Singh tells The Indian Express about his first impressions of a 15-year-old Sakib. On his IPL debut, Sakib Hussain, now 21, took 4 for 24 for Sunrisers Hyderabad against Rajasthan Royals in Hyderabad on Monday. Fellow debutant Praful Hinge took 4 for 34. Between them, two men nobody had heard of dismantled Rajasthan Royals on the same evening. From tennis-ball specialist to CSK net bowler to KKR bench to SRH colours — Sakib’s journey …

5 min readHyderabadApr 14, 2026 12:15 AM IST Skipper Ishan Kishan’s 91 and a combined spell of 8/58 from Praful Hinge and Sakib Hussain helped SRH claim first home win of IPL 2026. Skipper Ishan Kishan took it into his own hands with an inspiring 44-ball 91 to counter the high-flying Rajasthan Royals and the bowling attack, which looked unrecognisable with new names like Praful Hinge and Sakib Hussain humbling the power-packed Royals batting lineup. Dream debuts The crowd erupted the loudest this evening after Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s wicket today at Uppal as the teenage sensation got out for a golden duck by an unknown SRH debutant, Praful Hinge. It was a dream spell for the 24-year-old Praful from Nagpur. The ball obeyed the wishes of the tall, fast bowler who got it to swing sharply both to the right-handers and the left-handers. Dhruv Jurel, who came into this game after making 81 not out in the last match, was left surprised with the movement Hinge generated when the ball pitched and swung sharply inwards. Jurel …

Young Guns Praful Hinge, Sakib Hussain Shines as SRH Outclass Royals

A stunning bowling performance from Praful Hinge and Sakib Hussain set up Hyderabad’s second win in the IPL 2026 campaign. Their four-wicket hauls set up Sunrisers Hyderabad to seal a 57-run victory against Rajasthan Royals at Hyderabad. By this win, SRH stormed into the top four of the IPL 2026 points table. After being invited to bat first, Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head opened the innings for SRH while Jofra Archer opened the bowling attack for Rajasthan. He bagged the wicket of Abhishek Sharma in the very first ball of the innings, and Ishan Kishan came to bat at No. 3. Both Ishan Kishan and Travis Head made a decent partnership as SRH scored 51 runs in the powerplay. Riyan Parag, who came to bowl after the power play, bagged the wicket of Travis Head for 18 runs. However, Ishan Kishan smashed fifty and continued to bat scoring 91 runs which included 8 fours and 6 sixes. SRH’s Sakib Hussain credits Varun Aaron for dream debut: ‘Whatever improvement you see in my bowling is because of him’ | Cricket News

2 min readUpdated: Apr 13, 2026 11:45 PM IST With Praful Hinge becoming the first bowler to take three wickets in the first over in Indian Premier League history on his debut, another Sunrisers Hyderabad debutant Sakib Hussain also refused to be overshadowed, taking 4 wickets as well as the two pacers rocked the Rajasthan Royals and helped their team win by 57 runs. While Hinge was creating havoc, Hussain was calmly going about his job at the other end, picking the big wicket of Yashasvi Jaiswal and then following up with scalps of Donovan Ferreira, Jofra Archer and Ravi Bishnoi to finish with 4/24. “Every player hopes for a debut like this, so it feels really good. I’m very happy. The bowling coach informed me a day before the game that I would be playing. From then on, my focus was simply on performing well. Mentally, I prepared myself to give my best,” Hussain said in the post-match presentation ceremony. Another debutant making his mark ✅ 🎥 Glimpses of Sakib Hussain’s 4/24 in his …

Former England captains Atherton, Hussain & Boycott blast ECB over lack of Ashes accountability

Former England captains Atherton, Hussain & Boycott blast ECB over lack of Ashes accountability

3 min readMar 25, 2026 11:47 PM IST The England Cricket Board (ECB) continues to find itself at the receiving end of criticism after handing a clean chit to head coach Brendon McCullum, following a disastrous Ashes series in which England lost 4–1 in emphatic fashion during the five-match Test tour of Australia last summer. ECB chief executive Richard Gould recently confirmed that the positions of captain Ben Stokes, managing director Rob Key, and McCullum are safe following a thorough review conducted by the board. Former England captain Michael Atherton expressed surprise at the decision. He believes fans will find it “extraordinary” that no jobs were lost for the “mistakes” made during the Ashes defeat. “From the perspective of people out there, they will find it extraordinary that there’s been no accountability for the mistakes made in the Ashes,” Atherton said while speaking to Key on the Sky Sports Cricket podcast. “It’s not necessarily bloodlust people want, but I think they want genuine accountability. If there’s no change to key personnel, they will argue, ‘Well, …

Asha Parekh on her unconditional bond with Nasir Hussain: ‘He was the only man I loved’ | Bollywood News

3 min readMar 15, 2026 07:30 AM IST Asha Parekh says the late filmmaker Nasir Hussain, whose death anniversary falls on March 13, was the only man she ever loved. For years, the entertainment industry has been aware of the celebrated actress’ long-standing relationship with Hussain. He not only introduced her in Dil Deke Dekho in 1959, but the two went on to collaborate on seven feature films, all of them superhits, including Teesri Manzil and Caravan. On the need to speak out about the love of her life, the actress says, “Yes, Nasir Saab was the only man I ever loved. It is not respectful to those whom we love if we don’t acknowledge their presence to the world.” In the Indian film industry, convenient amnesia about past affairs is par for the course. Asha Parekh, however, has never subscribed to it. The ‘Jubilee girl’ says, “I don’t know about others. And I won’t comment on what others feel about this. For me, it is important to acknowledge my feelings. And, I am proud …
