Shoojit Sircar says ‘popular actors’ will have to lower their fees: ‘If they don’t, directors will stop approaching them’ | Bollywood News

Amid the raging debate around escalating star fees and entourage charges, Shoojit Sircar has weighed in on the matter. The filmmaker said that some “popular actors” need to reconsider their fees — or risk losing opportunities. He claimed that more money should be invested in taking a particular shot to match the director’s vision, instead of pumping it into the actor’s bank account. “I won’t say much about people’s entourages or what they charge, but I am sure of one thing: popular actors will have to lower their fees. If they don’t, directors will stop approaching them. We have to make a film within cost now, if we want the audience to come and watch it. Go expensive wherever needed. If the director visualizes a shot a particular way, pay more for that. The director should not compromise on his vision to save money for the actor’s fees,” Shoojit said. In the interview with ANI, Shoojit Sircar cited his own example of making films with modest budgets with his friend and producing partner, Ronnie Lahiri. …

OPINION: Abhishek Bachchan and heartwarming father-daughter stories like Be Happy, I Want To Talk are a perfect match; here’s why

OPINION: Abhishek Bachchan and heartwarming father-daughter stories like Be Happy, I Want To Talk are a perfect match; here’s why

Abhishek Bachchan recently starred in the dance drama film Be Happy. Before that, he was seen in the slice-of-life movie I Want to Talk. Both of these films are heartwarming stories centered around a father-daughter relationship. In my opinion, Abhishek and such stories are a perfect match. Here’s why! Abhishek Bachchan played the role of a single father in both of his latest movies. He managed to portray a deep emotional connection with his children. In Remo D’Souza’s Be Happy, he plays Shiv, who has a protective relationship with his daughter, Dhara. The little girl dreams of participating in the country’s biggest reality show. While Shiv is initially hesitant, he eventually does everything in his power to fulfill her dream. Meanwhile, in I Want to Talk, directed by Shoojit Sircar, he plays Arjun, a father whose complicated relationship with his daughter improves as he battles an illness. I think Abhishek conveyed both of these different relationships in a genuine and heartfelt manner. His chemistry with his co-stars also helped make the stories feel relatable, and …

Refreshing to see films being made on father-daughter bond: Abhishek Bachchan on ‘Be Happy’ | Bollywood

Mumbai, Actor Abhishek Bachchan says he has consciously chosen films like his last release “I Want to Talk” and his upcoming film “Be Happy” as they depict the father-daughter relationship, an aspect he feels hasn’t been widely explored in Hindi cinema. Refreshing to see films being made on father-daughter bond: Abhishek Bachchan on ‘Be Happy’ In both, “I Want to Talk”, directed by Shoojit Sircar, and choreographer-turned-filmmaker Remo D’Souza’s “Be Happy”, Bachchan plays the role of a single father. “I don’t remember too many films that are made on the father-daughter dynamic. And what happens in a family’s life if the mother isn’t there? In this film, the father-in-law, son-in-law, and granddaughter cope with that situation. The void left by the mother figure not being in somebody’s life is huge. “But to see a dynamic in which the father has to step up and try and fill that void, I thought that was interesting. We don’t have too many films that speak about that, so that was very refreshing and nice. We also realise nobody …
